You may have seen over the weekend that Kingdom Hearts IV was treated to a new trailer and late 2027 release window as part of Disney's D23 Event, and the even better news is that it's confirmed as an Xbox Play Anywhere title!

That means you'll be able to play Kingdom Hearts IV on both your Xbox Series X|S console as well as on the Xbox PC app without having to pay twice, although bizarrely the same can't be said of the upcoming re-releases for Kingdom Hearts I-III that are arriving in October - those still don't have a Play Anywhere tag at the time of writing.

Anyway, here's a bit more on what to expect from Kingdom Hearts IV:

A brand-new adventure awaits as the world of Disney and Pixar's Coco joins KINGDOM HEARTS IV. Discover exciting new features, including action-packed sequences where you can play as Donald and Goofy, as well as an exploration segment following King Mickey as he searches for clues to the whereabouts of the missing Sora. KINGDOM HEARTS IV is now available to wishlist on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox ON PC, Nintendo Switch™ 2, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

As for those "other surprises", we've spotted a few interesting Xbox Play Anywhere additions that we hadn't anticipated. The main one is Arma Reforger, which randomly got XPA support last week after four years on Xbox Series X|S.

The full 1.0 launch for Reforger was back in 2023, so it's nice to see such a late XPA inclusion here.

"The 1.8 Major Update is here, bringing new features, gameplay improvements, stability fixes, and plenty of changes across the battlefield. We're also excited to announce that Arma Reforger is now available on the Microsoft Store with Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing you to play across Xbox consoles and Windows PC with a single digital purchase."

We've already mentioned Baldur's Gate 3 elsewhere on Pure Xbox, which is arguably one of the most important Xbox Play Anywhere additions of all time, while other surprises that have joined the list in August include upcoming titles such as Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, Lawn Mowing Simulator 2 and Gear Club Unlimited 3.

These are definitely not the only games being added to Play Anywhere though - in fact, the service is benefiting from many new titles every week. A lot of them are indies, and Xbox has an official page on its website dedicated to XPA where you can sort by newest releases. The only problem with the official list is that you won't see older titles with new XPA integration such as Arma Reforger, so we reckon they need to add a new filter ASAP!
