Paper Cult has announced that Tears of Metal, its upcoming hack-and-slash roguelike, will launch into Early Access on July 22 via Xbox Game Pass for PC, Steam, and the Microsoft Store.
Here's what the developer has to say about the game:
Tears of Metal is a medieval hack-and-slash co-op roguelike. Carve through hordes of enemies to reclaim your island with the help of your formidable Scottish battalion. As you advance deeper into the trenches, uncover more about the mysterious Dragon Meteor and the treacherous enemy invasion.
If you've not already found a worthy cause to smother blue and white paint across your face (I can certainly think of a worldly reason), the medieval Scottish roguelike looks like it's shaping up to be an absolute blast. Think Dynasty Warriors, but everyone is dripped-up in tartan and steel!
Tears of Metal has earned over a whopping 400,000 wishlists on Steam since its reveal at Summer Games Fest in 2024, so there's a fairly decent chance you've heard of this one.
The game will feature both solo and co-op play, with powerful upgrades feeding into customisable builds, skills to unlock for your armies, and the option to expand and develop a settlement between bloodthirsty campaigns. M'yes.
The Xbox console version of the game is set to launch sometime closer to the end of 2026.
