Sorry, grimdark fans – Lords of the Fallen II will no longer release this year. The game is now set for an early 2027 release window.

As it stood, the dark fantasy RPG was aiming for a September release, but following a development update on X from CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski, the decision to delay appears to be strategic:

"This updated release window also strategically positions Lords of the Fallen II outside of a highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the dedicated attention it deserves."

Currently, September 2026 looks absolutely stacked, followed by the monstrously anticipated GTA 6 launch in November.

From what we've seen of the sequel to Lords Of The Fallen, it's shaping up to be an improvement on the original.

In his post, Tyminski provides a deeper insight into the benefits of delaying the game:

"As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team. Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience."

Personally, I think it's a great move to avoid some stiff competition this fall season, and by the sounds of it, the delay will only make Lords of the Fallen II a much better game.

Where are you planning on playing the game in September? How do you feel about the delay? Let us know in the comments below!
