It's official! We'll be playing Halo: Campaign Evolved in just a matter of weeks, with Xbox announcing as part of the Xbox Games Showcase today that the game will launch on July 28th, 2026 for Xbox Series X, Series S, PC and PS5.
Today's announcement was also accompanied by an awesome new trailer that you can watch up above. As previously revealed, Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the first game in the series, but only the campaign - not multiplayer.
While July 28th is the date for the main release (which includes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass), the game also includes an early access period for Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Collector's Edition buyers from July 23rd.
We're pretty darn stoked to be getting a Halo remake in less than two months' time here, and fingers crossed it can live up to expectations. You can check out more details about the game down below, along with a look at the Premium and Collector's Editions.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful yet expanded remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, rebuilt from the ground up. Play the legendary story with HD visuals, refined controls, up to 4-player online co-op, 3 new missions, and an expanded arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and new enemies.

Paid Skins for a single player game?
Dang, I said if it was priced properly at $40-50 I 'd get it Day One, lol. Ain't no way I'm paying $20 extra to play a few days early, some skins, & art books I'll never look at though.
Really looking forward to the extra missions. Dissapointing to see Master Chief on Playstation.
So Gears is more important than Halo? Still seems like they're not really sure what they are doing or where they are going
Yeah I will pass. Was disappointed by Halo Infinite. I have other games to play.
@Juanalf Apparently only Gears is worth keeping "exclusive" (PS5 version has since been unearthed through a SKU and PEGI rating), the rest of the show has been full of "coming to PS5" unfortunately.
@Juanalf @oopsiezz Well yes. They know they will get more making Halo multiple platform. Dont get me wrong they would do that for the next Gears but its all part of Nadella's plan on keeping the Xbox fanboys happy. By having Sharma say Gears is going to be exclusive it calms them down and pacifies them. Just go look at the comment section. Gears was just the sacrificial lamb thats all.
When does that collectors edition go on pre order?
Yes please! I'm psyched to play these new levels. Never even considered the possibility of Sgt. Johnson making a comeback in a big way!
Edit: Collectors Edition pre-ordered and paid in full. I'm ready to go!
@Juanalf This Halo is a remake, not gears e-day, and given the direction things are heading, I’m almost certain the next Halo will be exclusive — it just seems obvious. The thing is, this “Evolved” entry is a remake, and it had already been announced for PS5 before Asha Sharma took over.
@Juanalf It had already been announced to come to playstation....I'm pretty sure the next mainline halo game won't be on ps now though....well I imagine that's the current plan....probably a long way off though so they could flip flop again by then
I am super glad it has co-op on day one. That was a super downer with Infinite.
If they're remaking Halo 2 and 3 as well, I could see them being Xbox console exclusives, while a free to play Halo online would go multiplatform.
I could see Microsoft giving gamers "a taste" on other platforms, like with Gears, only to make subsequent games locked to their ecosystem.
Halo on the PS5 but Gears is exclusive? lol.
Why is classic armor locked behind a paywall? Stop with the nickel and diming, this is a campaign only game!
I though MC got the "Demon" moniker after destroying the Halo ring, which was seen as a great blasphemy by the Covenant? Before that he wasn't known to the Covenant as "Demon"
To all comments about this being on PS5... It needs to be from a business perspective, and a brand perspective.
This isn't a 'real' halo game, it's an unwanted remake in a hated engine. It's going to look pretty (although I can't imagine like the trailers have shown on anything but a pc to that quality), and that's going to sell.
And, it's going to sell even more on PS5 because it has more players installed.
The 'real' next halo game will likely be Xbox exclusive and the aim would be to capture some of the PS5 owners that were interested in the remake. All the remakes will absolutely go to Sony consoles as they are launched too.
It's the only logical option, but I will add I still don't think MS have done enough to make this actually viable. But that will be the logic.
I was more disappointed that MS didn't pull more of the distant releases into exclusive territory, but it can't all be done in one go.
Why? Because what's the point selling your stuff in a walled garden, when there is basically no one in there to buy it. Real sticky one MS are in here through years of mismanagement. It's going to take decades to resolve if ever. The new xbox will probably still really struggle as public perception is still very poor.
As for this remake, yeah it looks great (which will ruin the readability like the previous remaster did) and be worth a bash on gamepass. I hope for the best, but everything about it says it's forgotten in a few years. I also got triggered by MC being called Demon. They either have lost the plot or they are doing it as a light throwaway to what he becomes known as, but that seems a bit out of place to me.
splendid. i only just played halo for the first time in the last 2 years after getting a series s. But i look forward to screaming at my dual sense and chucking it at the sofa thanks to the library.
