Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Xbox Preload Now Live, And The Download Is Absolutely Massive

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to Xbox in just two weeks' time, and ahead of its June 2026 launch, the game's Series X|S download size has been revealed - and it's absolutely massive.

Heading over to the Microsoft Store right now, FF7 Rebirth's preload has gone live, and you'll need roughly 170GB of Xbox Series X|S storage space to download it. Yep, you read that right, the upcoming Final Fantasy release takes up about half of the storage space on a base Xbox Series S SSD once it's all set up and ready to go. Madness.

We'll chuck a link to the store page down below, which shows the game's download size:

If you'd like a taste of FF7 Rebirth but aren't ready to commit the money — or indeed, the SSD space, then we'll also remind you that the game has a free demo that's still available on the Xbox Store (with progress that carries over to the main game). Be warned though, even the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo takes up roughly 90GB of space.

This isn't the first time we've been met with a huge Xbox download in recent weeks, with games regularly taking up a lot of storage space these days. Microsoft's own Forza Horizon 6 has been dominating our Xbox playtime as of late, and that game takes up more than 130GB as well. We've got to be clever with what we keep installed on our consoles, folks!

Is this game going to be worth the storage footprint? Talk to us about FF7 Rebirth down below.
