We've got another date to put in the diary! Mafia: The Old Country has been given a release date of August 8th, 2025 for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, although it seems 2K didn't intend to reveal the news just yet.
It was mentioned in a new blog post on Steam earlier today, before being quickly removed soon afterwards:
Mafia: The Old Country is available August 8, 2025. Pre-order now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
This isn't an entirely surprising release date considering Mafia: The Old Country was slapped with a "Summer 2025" sticker back at the end of last year, but it's certainly nice to know we'll be playing it in a few months' time!
There's obviously an outside chance that the date could be moved again, in which case we'll let you know about it, but here's hoping Mafia: The Old Country will be with us on Xbox consoles this August. We're so ready for this one!
Looking forward to Mafia: The Old Country? Tell us down in the comments section below.

Finished Mafia definitive edition for the first time last night. The tone and story are so good. I've got my reservations on them delivering on this because I played mafia 3 and it was pretty bad, but if it's more like the first one then it'll be a treat!
Great news! I'm a huge Mafia 1 fan. I played the original on PC over 20 years ago. Then more recently I played the definitive edition and had a great time with it all over again. When Mafia 2 came out I tried to play it, but I didn't like the fact that they had changed it to a cover shooter. Based on that, I never tried to play three. I think this being set in Sicily as a prequel to the first Mafia game, it really has a lot of promise.
I'm really looking forward to this hopefully it's more like mafia 1&2 and not like 3 it's the only one of the series I can't get through this might be Day one for me can't wait!!
1 and 2 were great - and although 3 had a decent setting, it just felt like a poor man's GTA. Hopefully they pull it back with this new one.
Loved Mafia and Mafia 2. This sounds like a very good idea to set a prequel in Sicily.
I only played mafia 2. Mafia 3 looked rubbish so I didn't get that. I thought the godfather games were much better.
