Back in September of last year, Microsoft announced that it was going merge its Xbox mobile apps — ditching the dedicated Game Pass version in the process — and after halting new downloads from November, the team has now posted a farewell message as the app goes offline.
As shared over on Reddit, user firewire_9000 spotted a goodbye message added to the Xbox Game Pass app's iOS store page. As this example is from a Spanish-speaking country, the update simply says "Adiós" - so yep, we get the message, Xbox's Game Pass mobile app can no longer be used.
As we explained back in September, the Xbox Game Pass app features have all moved over to the main Xbox mobile app now, so users are still getting that functionality on Android and iOS. Here's how Microsoft explained those changes last year:
Key features – like the ability to explore Game Pass and manage your membership – will now be found in one place with the Xbox app on mobile. You’ll be able to browse the full Game Pass catalog to find your favorite games and stay in the loop with alerts for new games coming to the service.
If you’re a Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll also be able to view and claim your Perks. As part of these changes, we will no longer support new downloads of the Xbox Game Pass app, starting in November.
Of course, this new way of doing things may be a bit of a pain if you simply want to access XGP information rather than everything to do with Xbox - but that's a minor inconvenience at best, we suppose. We still use the Xbox mobile app for Game Pass stuff pretty frequently, especially when we want to pre-install upcoming games on our linked consoles.

Bye bye you utterly useless app✌️
how do i use xcloud on my phone now? cant do it on the xbox app
The issue is that on Android we lost the ability to stream from the app and it doesn't look like that's returning any time soon due to Apple and Google's hard push back. The idea of simplifying the experience comes with a bad aftertaste. On iOS they've gone from 2 apps and a web app (pinning the site to the homescreen to stream). On Android we've gone from two native apps to one app and a web app.
@Toot1st You have to go to the Xbox Play website. You can add the site to your home screen but yeah... not ideal.
Honestly both Xbox apps are useless on iOS not sure about android but the PlayStation app on iOS is the exact opposite. You can buy things pin stuff check your trophies which is so much better imo.
@Residentsteven i agree, as much as i love and prefer Xbox to my PS. I do like the PS App on iPhone way better than the Xbox one. This is an area MS needs to get better in if they are in fact competing with Steam on the PC and Hybrid Console. They need to get thier Ui, Store fronts, apps etc all much more streamlined and clean to get users to want to be there. Cause Steam is very clean and easy to use. Xbox on PC is a cluttered mess.
Given Apple changed their tune last year why can I still not stream games from the Xbox app on my iPhone?
Apps are expensive to maintain so glad they're merging these. They'll probably merge it with their Microsoft gaming store in someway in the future
It's better that it's now in one app but I would like the ability to buy games via the app again!
@Residentsteven It drives me nuts, the PS App on Android is nearly perfect, why the heck can't Xbox be bothered?
Xbox app is obtuse and almost completely useless, and they are freaking Microsoft.......c'mon
Never really used it much myself.
Like others have already pointed out; the PS app is so much better it hurts. Sigh.. I wish MS could get a move on and make the Xbox app better, like way better, than it currently is! Just to be able to buy games would be a start! You can do that, and download/see/manage the storage on your console in the PS app on both Android and iOS. Why the hell can’t the Xbox app have the same functionality??
It’s embarrassing that the world’s biggest software company (biggest company overall even!) can’t match a Hardware company like Sony when it comes to making a great app.
This is the company who spent $70B thinking they were going to compete with Google and Apple's stores. They can't even compete with sony's mobile app.
Yo todavía en Android al cambiar a un Android mas reciente traslade el Xbox Game Pass para asi nunca perder la app aunque ya este muerta
