Xbox has officially delayed the next chapter of Fable, and although this game has been pushed back to next year, Microsoft's gaming division has obviously still got plenty of other unannounced projects it's working on behind closed doors.
In the recent 'Xbox Game Studios Update', the division's head Craig Duncan issued a reminder about this - noting how there's still apparently a lot in the pipeline that hasn't even been revealed just yet. Here's exactly what he had to say:
"We've got a bunch of stuff we haven't announced, so obviously I spend a bunch of time with that... but yeah, we have lots going on."
Again, this is just a quick PSA that Xbox may have at least a few surprises or perhaps even shadow drops up its sleeve.
Some of the games we already know are on the way in the future include South of Midnight and DOOM: The Dark Ages, with other projects like Gears of War: E-Day, Perfect Dark and State of Decay 3 also part of Xbox's plans.
There have even been rumours about new hardware and certain games being revived in Bethesda's library, and then you've got companies like Activision and Blizzard working around the clock on new and old IP, including a possible Tony Hawk remaster which has now been rated.
What would you like to see Xbox surprise us with going forward? Any particular series or games? Let us know in the comments.

Well, that's exciting. Avowed is scratching that fantasy RPG need of Fable, so I can wait.
It's crazy how all these big games are coming to Game Pass. Its value is just unmatched.
It's probably best it was delayed. I'm sure they have tons of projects going and this years line up is Avowed, South of Midnight, Doom, Outer Worlds 2, Call of Duty...plus 3rd party biggies like borderlands 4, Ninja gaiden 4, assassins creed, lies of p dlc, GTA6... looking forward to seeing what they have cooking for 2026
Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas remaster or remake.
Of course they have an-announced stuff , it's no different to any other gaming company out there.
@Lup
"It's crazy how all these big games are coming to Game Pass. Its value is just unmatched"
Not if the PS fanboys are anything to go by (in GamePass related articles), they are cancelling their imaginary GamePass subscriptions because apparently it offers no value 😅😅.
"We've got unannounced projects"
I should hope so they have what 30 studios and we only know what some of them are doing.
I wonder if Fable, Gears E day & more will get delayed to next year to launch on the next Xbox. As now their pushing being a 3rd party publisher. They'll need a stellar launch line up to sell consoles. Plus it will stop the negative headlines that they run better on Playstation from the media.
I’m a little bummed since I bounced off of Avowed, but this year is still stacked for me so no harm, no foul.
Playground know what they're doing. They're on of MS' best imo. If they want to give extra polish, I'm all for it. Fable is gunna be huge. Not only that, but the year is absolutely stacked. Leading on from Avowed, there's DOOM, SoM, not to mention whatever is happening with Tony Hawks - and that's just the next few months.
MS has never been stronger, especially in regards to their output - and if they have unannounced projects that could arrive Q3/4 (seeing as the direct, which was heavy on its own - only went up to Q2) then that makes the summer showcase even more exciting to wait for.
The only thing is I'm getting very fussy about what I'm playing for some reason lately and this was one I'd be definitely playing when it came out I just hope when fable does release it's bug free and runs well!
It’s all so simple and great value with GPU now the bigger games are rolling out and we even get COD every year.
Does make me wonder how much money when selling a new game without a subscription service a game actually makes.
I bet it loads more than they make out, so their excuses to increase prices and act all poor.
That’s mainly aimed at Sony and Slowtendo.
Saw a popular Youtuber say that Playground will be closed over this game. Because the games delayed, which means its a terrible game obviously.
I swear that YouTube & X are rotting the entire human race.
Nice to hear, but this should have been obvious with so many studios, several with multiple teams.
@NeutronBomb the problem is that some ppl will see this video for clicks and money for the maker and go around repeating it like its the sworn truth
I'll wait as long as it takes for the games I loved to be released...Banjo-Kazooie, Dance Central, Viva Pinata, PGR...
These are my favorite franchises on Xbox.
@NeutronBomb the intelligent among us will pay no mind to videos/YouTubers like that and get our information from reputable sources. Unfortunately, you're right; "news" on social media is rotting the human race. It used to be that to report on news, you had to be qualified, reputable and have some sort of integrity. Unfortunately, YouTube - or the internet as a whole, really - made it so that any mook can say anything and get a sizeable following.
Anywho, I sincerely doubt Microsoft will close Playground even if Fable does turn out to be a dud, for one reason: Forza Horizon. I don't see Microsoft putting an obstacle in the way of FH6 being made; it's too big a deal for them.
@NeutronBomb I think a lot of people miss the fact that they're building not only a game, but rebooting a franchise. They'll have got everything in place to move onto a sequel pretty quickly (should it perform well - which it will) and that won't be in development for as long as this one has because they'll have all the systems and assets from the first game to build on, rather than starting from scratch.
Stop announcing these games way too damn early. Announce only when almost ready for public release; so more like the new Doom game and Hi-Fi Rush, less like Fable and Everwild.
Id like to see new stuff and new IPs. They have so many amazing developers with so many rpgs and adventure games under their belts. Not to mention they own tons of old IPs of the 80s and 90s like all the Sierra IPs.
They've been saying this since 2020.
Xbox easily has the most appealing road map of any publisher in my opinion. They are pumping out great games left and right lately and don't appear to be taking the foot off the gas anytime soon.
@abe_hikura Over 40 I believe now.
@Sol4ris are you trying to bring said PS fanboys into the thread bringing them up? Come on now they give us enough of a headache as is lol
They need fable to work so I’d rather a delay so ready. I’d love fallout new vegas remaster as never played it
Within Microsoft's power, give me Skywind and Skyblivion official releases on console, port StarCraft 1 & 2 to console, and I want new entries for Mechassault, Crimson Skies, Kameo, & Viva Pinata.
Do all that along with the Fable and Perfect Dark reboots and I'd be pretty happy with this console generation.
Would also love to see Jade Empire get a sequel as well as Xbox launches for Until Dawn, Shenmue 3, Detroit: Become Human, and KOTOR Remake, but I know that's not really in MSFT's court.
I have no problem with the number and amount of games MS is releasing. I do want to see the games move from 8/10 to 9's and 10' though. If it take more time I am fine with that.
There are a lot of AAA studios with 5+ year development cycles now. That is how the game industry is for a new AAA game based on a new/highly updated engine and with original content.
XBOX should invest more in AA production if they want to keep a good lineup every year and boost Game Pass content every month. We need good single-player games that don't need to have 40-50 hours of gameplay to enjoy them. Games like Hellblade 2, Hi-Fi Rush, Avowed, and Indiana Jones are some good examples of what kind of games we need for Game Pass. Of course, we will still have 2-3 big AAA games every year, but it doesn't need to be the only option. Game studios can create low-cost, cinematic experiences with polished gameplay with a short to medium story duration that doesn't extend 8-12 hours. This is the AA recipe for Game Pass. Nintendo has followed the "AA" route of success for years by creating short games with high-quality gameplay.
