Last night, the teams at MercurySteam and 505Games announced a brand-new action-adventure game called Blades of Fire, and the good news is that it'll definitely be coming to Xbox Series X and S when it launches on May 22nd.
In terms of what to expect, it apparently features a "unique weapons forging system" that allows you to create near limitless weapon variations, with the ultimate goal being to destroy the evil Queen who has turned all steel to stone in an attempt to eliminate any opposition to her reign.
Here's a bit more about what you can expect from the story and gameplay in Blades of Fire:
"Step forward Aran de Lira, the last hero who can wield steel, and Adso, a young scholar whose knowledge of lost myths and sacred tongues may shape their fate. Learn how to craft near limitless weapon variations in the game’s unique ‘weapons forging’ system and bring the Queen to her knees.
Combine countless alloys, hilts, runes, blades and pummelling edges to craft and perfect the ultimate evil-slaying weapon. Every enemy type will pose unique challenges – every weapon you create will meet those challenges!"
If MercurySteam sounds familiar, that's because the studio has developed some beloved games - including multiple Castlevania: Lords of Shadow titles, as well as co-developing both Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread.
This should be one to look out for in May, then, and it actually already has a page on the Xbox Store where you can pre-order it for £44.99 / $53.99 if you're interested. We're looking forward to checking this out in just a few months' time!

I hope this means the rumored AAA Castlevania is in other hands. LoS was okay but it was just a God of War clone, not a Castlevania.
Looks fairly decent to be fair. Their Raiders of the Broken Planet was okay imo, but nothing revolutionary. Certainly will keep an eye on this one though.
Please tell me this doesn't mean Mercury Steam isn't working on Metroid 6. Dread is one of my favorite games of all time, and I would love a follow up.
Aran? That name seems awfully familiar...
One of my favorite devs! Loved the character design in Spacelords (aka Raiders if the Broken Planet), too bad the main character here is the only thing in the game lacking any rizz whatsoever.
Looks pretty decent. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this one...
Looks like the same s*** game with uninspiring faces and a C- dialogue...
@Bigmanfan same here! Metroid Dread is one of my all time favorites. But this is looking good - liking the precise combat and look
