THQ Nordic and developer Warhorse Studios has announced a pretty incredible sales milestone for their Xbox RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The sprawling Series X|S sequel has sold one million units across all platforms within 24 hours of release - it only launched yesterday, February 4th!
Meanwhile, over on Steam where player numbers are more visible than console platforms, the title has hit a peak concurrent player count of just under 160,000 in that same timeframe, closing in on a similar number of simultaneous players right now as we type this up.
We can't say we're hugely surprised by these numbers, if we're honest. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a seriously impressive RPG on pretty much every front - as we discussed in our recent 9/10 review of the title. It won't suit everybody's tastes, but those craving an incredibly deep open-world RPG that takes time to master will be handsomely rewarded in KCD2.
It's not just us that's been super impressed by this new Xbox release, either. In our recent review roundup, we touched on how Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is already an early Game of the Year contender for 2025, with our sister site Push Square giving the title a 10/10 score this week as well. Commercially and critically, KCD2 seems to be doing very well for THQ Nordic and Warhorse Studios.

Not my cup of tea for a game but can see why it's getting success long may it continue!
Fantastic news! It’s not for everyone, but we need this type of games. Uncompromising, raw and with little to no handholding. I loved KCD and will play this over summer holidays as I have not got the time now.
Was the frame rate fixed in the first game (Series X)? I liked what I played but performance was bad.
One million in a day is pretty solid, especially for a unique game like this. I've said it elsewhere, but I thought that the game was massively difficult in regards to its gameplay, when in actual fact apparently it's just one of those games that you need to get the hang of (more so here than any other) before finding it easy to contend with the mechanics.
Still waiting for a sale with this one.
I tapped out on the original as i couldn't cope with the janky & awkward controls. While the sequel seems a little more refined in places its still has a lot of the original game dna which makes me reluctant to pay full price for something i may not enjoy.
Also with stuff like Sniper Elite & soon maybe Avowed (as i understand its got a 60 fps mode now) I am in no rush to start a game like KCD 2 which needs a huge time commitment.
So yeah firmly on the sales list to play later in year or even next year.
It’s early February and I’ve already got a 2025 game backlog! 😮
@Old_Man_Harper mate, I've still got a 2023 backlog.
@Scrubchub I probably have a 2003 backlog somewhere.
More great games is good news for everyone
20 hours in and it isn't easy and it is slow paced but it is very fun an immersive!
