We saw a whole bunch of Xbox Game Pass titles at yesterday's Xbox Indie Showcase, but one that you might have glossed over somewhat is Blue Prince - a puzzle game arriving on the service when it launches in April.
The game looks cool and has received some glowing previews over the past year, and now former PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has highlighted Blue Prince as a Game of the Year candidate for 2025.
This is definitely one to watch out for, then - it arrives on April 10th for Xbox Game Pass, and will seemingly be available on Xbox One, Series X, S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. As mentioned, it's a 'day one' launch on the service as well.
We'll throw more details below, and definitely check out yesterday's Game Pass roundup if you haven't already!
Blue Prince - April 10, 2025 (Xbox Game Pass)
"Welcome to Mt. Holly, where every dawn unveils a new mystery. Navigate through shifting corridors and ever-changing chambers in this genre-defying strategy puzzle adventure. But will your unpredictable path lead you to the rumored Room 46?"
Upon reaching a closed door in Mt. Holly, you decide what room appears behind it and each decision shapes your path as you navigate through the manor. Every door can reveal new and exciting chambers that contain their own unique challenges and secrets. But be careful how you draft, for each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms you saw today may not be the same rooms you see tomorrow.

I mean it looks good, but I don't think I see GotY written on it :/
It looks fantastic to me. It's on BOTH Game Pass and PS+ Day 1 which is super-rare. The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is Sea of Stars. Anyone else remember any?
It would have to do some pretty spectacular things to knock KCD2 off the throne for me.
@Kaloudz not when we got moonlighter 2 eh 😎
I hope so, but competing against Death Stranding, Ghost of Yotei, Metroid Prime, GTA6, Fable, and Doom (all as of right now, of course) will be stiff competition. If it compares to that level of game, I’m down for it for sure.
@somnambulance and monster hunter wilds, kingdom come 2, split fiction. This year is packed
Perhaps Indie game of the year material … looked really amazing … reminds me to finish Cocoon
@Millionski I get where a lot of people like Monster Hunter and all, but it’s not for me and I really don’t see Wilds competing against any of those titles, based on what people have said about it. Sure, it’s been positive feedback mostly, but it’s also been a sort of a “it’s more Monster Hunter” type of response.
I’m curious if Split Fiction will top It Takes Two. Even if it does, I’m not sure it’s on that tier either.
KCD2 may be on that tier though. For me, I’ve not yet made up my mind about the game, but whether I end up liking it a lot personally or not, I can acknowledge that it’s a masterpiece objectively. I could see it being a legitimate challenge to more established titles.
Nightreign may be a challenger too…
This year could end up being stacked. It still feels sort of 2024 right now to me, but we could have another 2023 by the time the year closes out.
I've only seen the trailer, but it looks like it'll be really interesting.
@somnambulance monster hunter world was a GOTY contender in 2018 along with GOW and RDR2.
Currently wilds has 90 score on meta.
Its also very hype game.
Its guaranteed to be GOTY contender.
Same with kingdom come 2 - one of a kind game with high scores and hype.
My personal opinion is same as yours - prob not playing both of these.
Split fiction - I agree, its hard to top it takes two and that was more of a suprise factor. Split fiction looks more or less the same but I think it will get some awards too.
@Millionski I dunno. I think Wilds will be a good seller, but just have a feeling it may be overlooked by end of year…. Unless it’s on Switch 2 later in the year, giving it a second wind. KCD2 just had more passionate critical praise between the two from what I’ve read and seen, but I could be wrong, of course. I’m still trying to invest some time into KCD2 to see if i can “get it,” but I’m still not sure if it’s for me or not. Really fascinating game though.
I’m really curious how Split Fiction will turn out. I have this weird feeling that it might not top It Takes Two, but then again, I’m also ready to preorder it just because Joseph Fares made it and I’ve liked everything else he’s done. I’m aware my trepidation could just be because I just haven’t had that big hit game for me yet this year and last year just wasn’t a huge year of hits for me, so I’m jaded. Lol
@Decimateh Exactamundo!
I don’t see it myself, but I hope people enjoy the game.
This guy needs to stop talking like this lose lips sink ships come to mind!!
I'm literally disgusted by the whole thing very upsetting 👎
