It's not time for Black Friday just yet, but the deals have already begun! Over the past few days, we've seen a few notable discounts go live — for everything from the Xbox Series X to various controllers — so we thought we'd round them up.
Let's start with the Series X, shall we? Obviously we're expecting a lot more deals to come through for Microsoft's most powerful console in the coming weeks, but for now, the US Microsoft Store is offering a $50 discount on the OG model:
Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information.
In terms of controllers, we've found a bunch of early deals in various regions. If we focus on the UK and US specifically (sorry to everyone else!), the likes of Amazon and The Game Collection have reduced a series of coloured controllers to below £40, while in the US you can get up to $39 off a range of controllers including the Elite Series 2 models.
Finally, let's talk Expansion Cards. Yes, they tend to be cheaper these days anyway, but we're still seeing some good deals - you can get a 1TB card for less than £130 at Amazon UK, while in the US you can get a 2TB card for $199.99.
There's plenty more to come in the near future, so we're not getting too exhaustive right now - but if you're interested in anything specific, it's worth looking around already to see if you can nab a good deal before the chaos begins.
Don't forget about the big Xbox digital sale that'll go live for Black Friday as well, which we're expecting to begin either this week, or (most likely) next week. We could see over 1000 games discounted as part of this, so it'll be a big one!
Are you looking for anything in particular this Black Friday? Tell us down in the comments section below.

I get $50 off from $500 is a proper deal but those console prices are still eye watering! Also notable to remember this generation is in the declining stage of life and limping towards the end...
At least that's what I'm telling myself so I don't feel bad missing out.
I can't imagine buying a Series X at this stage of the game. It seems like a bad investment at this point.
I bought a Series X at launch and I mostly have used it for back compat.
Four years old, and only £50 off from the £480rrp?? I'm sorry but at this point during the 360 reign, you could pick up a used console for £50...Yet the Series consoles - even with Black Friday - the absolute best is around £300...I know inflation has done a lot of heavy lifting here, but this really isn't good enough 🙂
@evan23 Same situation here. Loads of promise and potential that fizzled quickly, and now it’s a BC machine.
Also, the price of those proprietary storage cards is still “too damn high”. What a stupid blunder to opt for those instead of the ability to slap any old SSD in. It’s like they heard about the god awful Vita memory sticks and said ‘Hey that’s a great idea, how do we get in on that?’
@ironcrow86 @Elbow The era of regular price cuts is over. It started with the previous generation. Now, waiting 4+ years to get your new console is foolish, cause one won't save anything. Buy early, enjoy the generation while it's current. 😊
Last year i bought the walmart diablo 4 series x bundle for $350.... This aint no deals. It is proposterous how expensive those fcuking cards are too to expand memory.
I don't know how they can justify 449 as a sale price. It's like they don't want to shift consoles.
I think it will drop further (or get a game bundled)
The rumours were ps5 (disc) for like £405 and some Fortnite sh*te in it.
So I think MS will get close to that.
For a while I naively though MS might try and keep the prices of those memory cards down. I mean there is nothing special about them other than the housing.
But now it costs £125 in a sale fo 1Tb while the PS5 can have an extra 2Tb for £150.
The only advantage of that card now is hot swapping it to other machines but that's not enough.
Now is an ideal time to get an Xbox Series S, its ultra affordable and will offer the biggest flood of decent 1st party games since the Xbox 360 era. Flight Sim 2024 alone is worth a purchase. Having other games like Avowed, Fable, South of Midnight, Gears E- Day, Perfect Dark, a new Forza plus more is a decent incentive for cheap gaming vs investing in a high end PC.
Not the UK yet.
The crazy white 1tb discless series x at £429.99 is the one that at least needs to match the discless PS5 at 1tb at £389.99, then when discounted recently was at £339.99.
As someone else said on here.
It looks like they don’t want to sell consoles.

Statistically speaking the 21st of December is the best time to get deals not Black Friday
Any news on official UK store discounts or at major UK retailers like Smyths toys or Argos.
All seem to be roughly the usual console prices.
@evan23 no console is an investmant they depreciate they never get more expensive. So investment no
@evan23 i completely disagree. now as the cross-gen period ends, is the best time to get the current gen console. And esp xbox with GPU. Of course if you own pc or ps then there is no point but not everyone got a newest console
I knew the xbox series X white digital was a mispriced. It must be at least $50 lower (399 USD).
Now we have 449 X with drive vs 449 X no drive LOL.
I think digital X woulbe a better deal next year
@OldGamer999 So “they dont want to sell consoles” as someone online (another “insider”) said BUT they just released 3 new xboxes, they are releasing xbox portable next year (Phil confirmed) and already working on next gen xbox as Sarah announced.
Why would they do that if they want to quit? What i see is that they dont believe in console growth so they allocate marketing $ elsewhere. They for sure want to keep their 50-60 console active players and also more than half of GP subs is on xbox.
@Millionski
I am not sure I can follow that logic
On the other hand, if you are already a PC gamer, you really don't need an XBOX at all.
I agree with @Balaam_ from above. When the generation started, I was very hyped about the XBOX. For me, it was clearly the better console over the PS5. I bought it at launch. But now it just seems like it is wasted potential.
It seems like it exists purely to serve the gamepass ecosystem. But if you aren't interested in subscribing to their selection of games, there isn't much you can do on an XBOX you can't do somewhere else better.
Nah I'm buying a ps5 thanks
Good but still terrible price for storage cards... I need one, because MS was banned non official extended card (WD CH SN560 SSDs) in november update...
Since I’ve bought that Amazon Fire tv 4K max stick I’m good with xCloud and streaming Game Pass games. I’m waiting for MS to let me stream my owned games and then I’ll never need another Xbox again (PS5 is my main console anyway). These „deals” won’t help matters, that’s for sure.
@EVIL-C there are many factors that people don’t consider. Such as the fact that semiconductor production is more expensive. Also most of the chips come from China and Taiwan. Consumer electronics have seen a surge in demand too. So Sony, MS, and Nintendo have to compete for their orders too. Lastly I don’t think the console makers want to take such big losses on strong bespoke hardware from the onset anymore. If they did lower the price significantly throughout the generation they would lose money and have less R/D for the next generation. So it’s a balance and I haven’t even mentioned the demands of modern console gamers. Console gaming is the best deal in the entertainment industry for hours provided.
I believe that the various Final Fantasy games will be on sale starting on November 14.
I got my Series X last Black Friday for only $350 from Walmart online (the Diablo 4 bundle one that someone mentioned above)…I’ll be curious to see if any of the deals this year end up topping that one cause I thought I got pretty damn lucky and it was sold out by the next morning when my friend checked
@Millionski
It’s just they price their consoles against the competition.
For example.
Series x 1tb discless £429.99
PS5 slim 1tb discless £389.99
No console or game pass advertising, this is UK and Europe by the way.
I totally agree that just over half of GP subscribers are on Xbox consoles.
So why not have more competitive console prices against the competition and advertise more.
I have always said sell a console maybe sell a game pass subscription.
To me it’s just like they are painting by numbers at the minute and are no way in full throttle trying to sell any consoles or even game pass subscriptions.
@evan23
What makes its worse for Xbox and I’m not saying Sony or Nintendo have been perfect.
But what must have big AAA exclusive have Xbox studios released for their consoles or even GP in the last four years.
In the last for years both Sony and Nintendo have released critically acclaimed games that have also got the general public buying their consoles.
I think the only real major player general public game Xbox have released is FH5 with 92 score, that comes close.
And they now think releasing games on other consoles will help them. If they want to sell big millions on other consoles they need so badly to up the quality of their studio games.
And if they don’t sell that well it will exactly the same reason they don’t sell consoles or GP.
The dam games are average or just above average at best.
@OldGamer999 first of all pricing varies depending on region. I dont know whats the deal with UK but in US its actually 449 SX with disc vs 499 PS5 slim right now. Maybe sony will announce its price cut sooner to black friday as well. Same discount is in Canada. Does it mean sony is not trying to push console in US/Canada? Seems MS just not really trying in UK/europe.
Next, lets all agree that 360 days are gone and MS changed their strategy multiple times. As of today, they dont believe in console GROWTH anymore. They are ok with keeping whatever console market share they have now plus or minus. So they dont need to aggressively push consoles and can allocate resources to other segments.
I dont understand why is everyone discussing the console sales till this day, when situation has not changed in 10 years (except of 1 year or so supply shortages during covid where Series S was a top seller). Thats their market share, it might shrink or grow little bit. As long as its enough to cover costs of lunching next console we are all good as consumers. I personally dont care if 50M plays on my console or 150.
I do agree on your take with games, I am sure they can do more. lets see how Indy and avowed are received. I also would bank on gears e-day.
Regarding the exclusivity war: this kindergarten must end and I am glad its slowly shifting. We have most of sony's games on PC with astro already in talks and sp2 releasing in couple months. All the timed exclusives are already on xbox like sifu or stray. Square enix and Kojidma games will be on xbox.
And yet even that MS started to push some games on PS5, they still have exclusives. does not seem like eveything will just release tomorrow on PS, so if you are into those exclusivity wars then you will have some on xbox.
@Millionski
The main reason the games are like what they are like is because their developers have to make a game for series s and series x and PC and cloud gaming and now maybe more consoles.
When the series x was announced I was so excited to see what amazing big AAA franchise Xbox games we would get at top AAA quality. The series x console is the best console but for the use of its power and potential they have just not bothered.
They have taken to developing on many devices as mentioned and taken all the excitement away of owner a powerful Xbox console for what used to be those amazing Xbox top AAA making the most of the console.
The series x was $350 several times last year, just sayin'
@Rog-X i 100% agree with you. GP value is insane. I am not even mentioning that money you save with GP you can allocate towards buying new games that you want or even funnier - save towards a ps5 lol. In any given year i saved between $300-500 on GP so basically in 2 years i saved for ps5.
I have my ps5 but its gathering dust now. I dont get all the praise that people have for the playform. It is good but its not better than xbox in every aspect how people trying to push it all the time. I am convinced xbox is a better platform on the long term. If you are someone who plays 2 sony games a year and cod then yes go for ps5.
