This month has seen the release of the Galaxy Black Xbox Series X along with a couple of other console variants from Microsoft, and that's big news considering there's barely been anything along these lines throughout the generation.
Arguably, the only notable exception is the Halo Infinite Limited Edition Xbox Series X that was released a few years ago, and to this day it remains our favourite design here at Pure Xbox. For whatever reason, Microsoft hasn't built many purchasable custom consoles for the Series X|S (choosing instead to favour "Wraps"), but at least they gave us something special for Halo Infinite!
Speaking of which, former Xbox exec Major Nelson shared on social media today that the bottom of the Halo Infinite Series X is actually modeled on the night sky at the Microsoft offices, which we hadn't heard about previously:
"Major Nelson: A bit of history that I don't think has been discussed: When we were working on the Halo LE Console I was told that the bottom's celestial design was patterned after the night sky above the Xbox offices. I wonder if the new Galaxy Black XSX has a similar easter egg."
This is just one example of how much care and attention clearly went into designing the limited edition console, and there's actually something even cooler in our opinion - if you shine a UV or black light at the front of the system, a secret Zeta Halo symbol suddenly appears. Here's a look:
Don't get us wrong, it's nice to see the Galaxy Black Series X and a new white version of the console on the market now, but their designs are very basic compared to the Halo Infinite Limited Edition one from a few years ago.
In fact, they're getting quite expensive as well - here in the UK you'd expect to pay around £150-£200 more than a standard Series X to acquire one - and to be honest, that might even be worth it if you value a nice-looking console!
How about you? Did you ever get one of these? We'd love to hear your impressions on the Halo LE Series X below.

That's really cool why didn't they just make these to sell I'm sure a fair few would of been snapped up!
If only that much care and attention had gone into the game prior to launch…
So Xbox's decisions really do come from outer space?!
That 2TB SX looks horrendous. Doesn’t like like space at all, but looks like it’s diseased.
I really want to but a new SX 2 TB but I refuse to buy a console that looks so ugly.
@tslog Good news. As mentioned in the article, the Halo space edition is sold out and you can just go and get a plain black or a plain white Series X.
It’s the best looking Xbox console even to this date, I’m still blown away that I actually got one.
I was lucky enough to get one of the Halo Infinite Xbox Series X's on launch. Was the first time in the plastic I thought it was a bit meh. The stars looked more like someone had been painting next to it and been a bit haphazard with the brush.
I never planned on getting a Series X, since I could just play all the current gen games on my PC, and used my One X Goldrush console for X1 games and BC for old 360 and phat console games. But then I saw this bitch, and thought, damn, me likey. So I went and got this thing. I've barely used it really, bunch of BC games but not much else. I use the controller with my PC and linked an old Xbox One pad to the console. Just aimed my UV torch at the thing and it does indeed have this pattern, also only the white dots react to the UV, the blueish looking ones do nothing, so in a dark room it looks like half the stars have disappeared.
If only they put as much attention into making exclusive games instead of exclusive hardware. They keep making more Xbox consoles but they don't give me a reason to buy it
