Xbox Legend Major Nelson Shares Fun Fact About The Halo Series X's 'Celestial Design'

This month has seen the release of the Galaxy Black Xbox Series X along with a couple of other console variants from Microsoft, and that's big news considering there's barely been anything along these lines throughout the generation.

Arguably, the only notable exception is the Halo Infinite Limited Edition Xbox Series X that was released a few years ago, and to this day it remains our favourite design here at Pure Xbox. For whatever reason, Microsoft hasn't built many purchasable custom consoles for the Series X|S (choosing instead to favour "Wraps"), but at least they gave us something special for Halo Infinite!

Speaking of which, former Xbox exec Major Nelson shared on social media today that the bottom of the Halo Infinite Series X is actually modeled on the night sky at the Microsoft offices, which we hadn't heard about previously:

"Major Nelson: A bit of history that I don't think has been discussed: When we were working on the Halo LE Console I was told that the bottom's celestial design was patterned after the night sky above the Xbox offices. I wonder if the new Galaxy Black XSX has a similar easter egg."

This is just one example of how much care and attention clearly went into designing the limited edition console, and there's actually something even cooler in our opinion - if you shine a UV or black light at the front of the system, a secret Zeta Halo symbol suddenly appears. Here's a look:

Don't get us wrong, it's nice to see the Galaxy Black Series X and a new white version of the console on the market now, but their designs are very basic compared to the Halo Infinite Limited Edition one from a few years ago.

In fact, they're getting quite expensive as well - here in the UK you'd expect to pay around £150-£200 more than a standard Series X to acquire one - and to be honest, that might even be worth it if you value a nice-looking console!

How about you? Did you ever get one of these? We'd love to hear your impressions on the Halo LE Series X below.
