Ever since it was introduced back in 2015, Xbox's modern-day backwards compatibility program has proved that despite the Xbox 360 and original Xbox being so old at this point, a lot of people still want to play those games.
The latest example arrives in the form of the Xbox 360's FEAR 3, which was released back in 2011. The game scored its first ever backwards compatible discount as part of last week's sales, and it's become a top seller as a result.
As things stand, it sits in the #10 spot in the UK and #20 in the US. The chart looks a bit weird now because many of the games alongside FEAR 3 are no longer on sale, but it's toppled a lot of big hitters over the past seven days including Red Dead Redemption 2, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, Minecraft and many more.

The good news is that, as you can see above, FEAR 3 is still on sale for another week yet. So, if you're interested in picking up this haunting paranormal shooter that racked up a decent Metacritic score of 75 for Xbox 360 back in the day, you can still do so for the low price of just £3.19 / $4.99. Got to be worth a try, right?
We'll throw more details about FEAR 3 down below, along with some screenshots:
"Alma is expecting and a new level of terror grows as you and your cannibal brother battle through a hellish nightmare. Fight together or die alone on a deadly mission to confront your twisted mother. Players can take on the role of Point Man, a genetically enhanced soldier with superhuman reflexes and the ability to manipulate time, or the undead spirit of his brother Paxton Fettel, a paranormal entity who possesses incredible psychic powers."

Loved the FEAR games, I still have my old physical copies and they're all backwards compatible. Always assumed some licencing deal stopped the first game from being made available digitally on later gens.
It must be just me but I could never get into these games at all
I love the fear series. I just recently replayed the 1st one and still found it really fun.
It's not the best FEAR game, but still a decent time.
It's an okay game but FEAR 1 and 2 are vastly superior. I'd put this down to more of a good deal and not much else releasing in quality on Xbox in the FPS space so it's just selling.
Bought and finished in a few sittings. Not as good as 1&2 but fun. Fps boost is inconsistent though. I’m playing Fear 2 now which hasn’t fps boost but definitely feels 60fps, plays way better than f3, only at low res. Great game.
I wish they didn't delist Fear 1 & Files. Now I have to scour eBay for it.
I have it on PC but decided to get it for Xbox as well!
Honestly I hope this is a wakeup call for WB. Being stingy with games that aren't Lego or DC doesn't mean jack if no one buys them. You don't have to devalue your games like Ubisoft does mere days after release to see the potential in discounts.
@xxk7xx I noticed that, too. Turning VRR off helped a bit, but there's still random slowdown...
F.E.A.R. 1 & 2 were completely smooth the whole way through, not sure what's going on in 3.
@ButterySmooth30FPS I actually haven't tried, and I've already deleted the game, but maybe disabling fps boost and/or auto hdr fixes it.
@xxk7xx It does run at locked 30fps without FPS Boost, but I haven't tried turning off auto HDR.
Always loved me some FEAR!! Great shooters!! I wonder why only 2&3 are available! Part 1 and Files missed the BC program.
