We've been waiting on updates for Xbox's first-party action-adventure game Towerborne for a while, and it's been announced today as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live that it'll be launching in early access this September.
The date is September 10, 2024 for early access, but the big catch is that it's only the Steam version that gets it. It'll later transition to an Xbox Game Preview launch, followed by the full release as a free-to-play (!) title in 2025.
Here's a bit more information about the game, and you can watch the new gameplay trailer above.
"Can you become the Ace humanity needs to survive? Join us in Towerborne, a fast-paced, hope-filled, action RPG. In this vibrant world with exhilarating combat, you’ll take on malevolent forces solo or alongside your companions and fight as one."

Free to play? That sounds a little strange...
Ughh, that is extremely disappointing that it’s going to be F2P
Free to play? Good thing Microsoft paid a bunch of money to have a free to play game on gamepass.
LFMAO, only Steam version coming in 2024 but “so many games coming” caused Avowed to also be delayed to 2025, what a f**king joke.
Exclusive EA on Steam, that is hilarious for a first party Xbox game...
Why lock this 3rd party multiplayer game to Xbox and doom it, while allowing first party single player Indy to go to PS5?
@Jenkinss the game's on Steam and more improtantly many games locked on Xbox weren't doomed
@demian list many successful 3rd party multiplayer games locked to xbox
@Jenkinss I'm not talking about mutliplauer games expicitly, several articles here have devs saying how mych GP helped them financially so they weren't doomed.
and more importatntly this one is on both Steam and Xbox
@demian list? Multiplayer games explicitly need player bases to thrive.
Microsoft won't even launch their own games exclusively on Xbox now.
