It's finally arrived, folks! Gamescom 2024 begins today with the Opening Night Live event in a few hours' time, and it'll be followed by multiple days' worth of content from Xbox via daily livestreams as we progress through the week.
There's obviously a big presence actually on-site in Germany as well, and we've spotted multiple members of Team Xbox heading over there over the past 24 hours. Xbox's VP of games marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has already been sharing a few snaps from his time in Cologne, including a table read that he crashed yesterday!
We've noticed a definite PC handheld presence amongst some members of the team as well. Xbox social media manager Stein loaded up his ROG Ally for the first time ahead of his trip, while VP of Xbox gaming devices and ecosystem Jason Ronald (also known as the guy with the big beard!) chose Pentiment as his ROG Ally X companion.
As mentioned, the fun begins later today as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live (which you can watch here at Pure Xbox with a full recap as well), and then we'll see what Xbox has to offer in its daily livestreams beginning tomorrow.
What are you hoping to see from Xbox at Gamescom 2024? Let us know in the comments below.

Well at least Greeny is having a good time.
Am sure there will be some exciting game news but overall I suspect we will see Xbox games going to PS5 being the biggest topic.
I will remain Team Xbox but do wonder if there is any point with them doing any more hardware. Essentially why would devs make games for a console that doesn’t sell well enough and will potentially have no reason left to buy it?
Just seems like we are treading water as we head toward the inevitable change from Xbox to Microsoft gaming. 😢
Have fun folks, I'm going to bed.
At this stage, they should just bring back the Games for Windows monikor, but maybe rebrand as Games for Every Other Console, but Xbox
@MjJmediablogger Keep in mind that the video game industry is in a time of transition, not unlike music or film.
Does it make sense for them to keep making hardware? I don't know, I think hardware is something that will always be needed, but at the same time I think it will change to define itself in a completely different way.
But this question makes sense for the whole industry, not just Microsoft, for example I don't think we'll ever see a PlayStation 8, and I'm not sure there will be a Nintendo Switch 3.
Microsoft is the first one that is trying to adapt to this future, although for this reason I think in a rather confusing way for its users. And Sony and Nintendo will have to go behind, looking for their own evolutions or they will disappear, and at the same time I think that other companies, such as Valve, Epic, Nvidia or Amazon, are trying to take advantage of these disruptions in the industry to put their own proposals.
In other words, I have no idea what video games are going to be in 20 years, something very different from what they have been so far, but I think Xbox is doing what they think they have to do to continue to exist by then, we will see if they get it right or not.
@sikthvash 😂😂😂😂😂
Can’t wait to see how they spin what was supposed to be an exclusive going to another platform after they said it wouldn’t. Xbox truly needs to figure out their imaging and marketing ***** is getting old.
“Should be a fun week ahead for PlayStation owners”.
I'm curious if Phil will lay out really awesome sounding news, inflate the hype balloon
As the Xbox community turns to high five each other, Phil runs up and pops the hype Ballon, gives everyone a wet willy and teieports back to his office not explaining a thing and being not heard from until the next Xbox Fest
Does anyone know if Flight Simulator 2024 is expected to make a showing?
...I mean, on xbox - rather than PS5? 😉
