First Player Games, the team behind the recent free-to-play brawler MultiVersus, has been acquired by Warner Bros. Games.
The co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White, who have years of experience in the game industry, will continue to run the studio. In a statement, Huynh mentioned how "excited" the team was to officially join the family:
“Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall. We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”
As mentioned, this is expected to be "great" overall for MultVersus, allowing the team to deliver the optimum experience for players. You can see what we thought of this studio's first game in our 'hands on' here on Pure Xbox:
This news follows reports last week of NetherRealm Studios' mobile team layoffs, as well as the end of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught for mobile devices.

Let's see how excited you are when the game "underperforms" and WB lays you all off.
@Markatron84 We are excited to take their money & when they inevitably shut us down .... well we already cashed out so 👍
I wish I wasn't so cynical when it comes to the games industry, sigh
@RiverGenie it's hard to not be cynical.
I wish some would stop trying to humanize corporations. "Family". Jesus wept.
@Markatron84 And it's WB, 'underperforming' to them is 'you're not on par with the biggest game in your genre'.
