Yesterday, Fortnite grabbed some attention relating to a recent Xbox update file size - attention that developer Epic Games said it "understands" due to the inconvenience caused. Well, as it turns out, Fortnite isn't alone here - and Mortal Kombat 1 might be taking home the 'biggest Xbox update prize' this week after all.
As posted over on Reddit, Mortal Kombat 1 has gotten a ridiculously big Xbox Series X update this week. Oh, and by ridiculously big, we mean over 120GB on the current-gen Xbox machine.
At the time of writing, we haven't seen any response from developer NetherRealm Studios or publisher Warner Bros. on this, but frankly, this sort of update size is absolutely absurd. If you have slow internet you'll struggle to get this done in about a week, not to mention folks with data caps and things like that!
There's speculation that this, and the Fortnite patch, could be down to a Microsoft issue on the backend. One response to the MK1 post says that the PS5 update for that game specifically was just 11GB — and Epic confirmed that the Fortnite issue was Xbox-only — so clearly, it's just Xbox users that are experiencing this at the moment.
