Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is out on Xbox today, but if you're willing to hold your Elden Ring horses, you could be playing through this new FromSoftware expansion with an officially licensed Shadow of the Erdtree controller.
Yep, Thrustmaster has announced a new version of its 'ESWAP' pro controller to coincide with the new DLC. This is a high-end gamepad with additional back buttons, extra-responsive face buttons and in this case, a modular design where you can pick and choose the analog stick layout to your liking.
Now, we actually reviewed a Forza Horizon 5 version of this pad last year, and we thought it was a pretty great alternative to the official Xbox Elite Controller. The main downside to the Thrustmaster option is that it's completely wired, but the rest of the pad holds up pretty well - and this Elden Ring edition is actually an updated version of the controller too.
Anyway, if you can afford to stump up the $200 price tag for this thing, the Thrustmaster Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Controller is now available to pre-order at Amazon - and it's out in August 2024.

Dang. Was excited for a minute then saw it was wired. Between kids, animals, and being a decent distance from the TV, wired controllers just don't cut it any more.
Been holding out on plunking down on a new controller until the official refresh that is supposed to have a gyro. How is it 2024 and literally everything, including my TV, has a gyro but not the Xbox controller?
Though that Turtle Beach Stealth is kinda appealing since it is wireless.
I would have pre-ordered this controller right now, @InterceptorAlpha, had it not been wired. Beats me why they don't offer two versions of the controller to cater to both markets.
My kids have grown up and left home (well, except for my 34 year old son who I just cannot get shot of! 🤣), but I do have 5 cats. No way can I have a wired controller these days with that daft lot running about. I've lost count of the number of times I've had my headset yanked off my head when it's charging whilst I play. They would wreck my console if I were to have a wired controller too! 😂
@Fiendish-Beaver Part of me wonders if the companies don't want to pay a licensing fee, or if Microsoft is stingy with it. Because we DO see third party wireless controllers. They're just rare as a Tasmanian Tiger
It looks horrendous and cheap to my eye anyways taught it was going to be an actual official Xbox elden ring controller not that thing!
Ok but is it a next gen controller
@TheSimulator No. Still current hardware. IE no gyro or haptics like the rumored refresh for the new SKUs this year.
That's ***** ugly
Beautiful controller, but I'm spoiled with my elite.
why does xbox always get all these custom and fun looking controllers
Looks delightfully silly. I may get it… if I have 199 euros to burn.
What an eyesore of a controller, and so expensive too.
