Yesterday's big Xbox Games Showcase delivered the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launch date - with the new Call of Duty title arriving like clockwork in late October 2024. However, this is the first year that CoD launches day one on Game Pass, and that means that fans have the opportunity to effectively upgrade the game without having to outright purchase Black Ops 6.
Yep, alongside yesterday's launch date news, Activision has set all of the pre-orders live for Black Ops 6's various different editions. Included in that list is the game's 'Vault Edition Upgrade', which can be combined with standard Xbox Game Pass access for Black Ops 6. The upgrade costs £30 / $30, and here's what's included:
- The Hunters vs. Hunted Operator Pack
- 4 Operator Skins: Adler, Park, Brutus and Klaus
- Mastercraft Collection
- 5 Mastercraft Weapons
- BlackCell Rewards (1 Season)
- Season 1 Battle Pass with 20 Tier Skips, 1,100 COD Points and more
- GobbleGum Pack (Zombies)
- 12 GobbleGums of high rarities (Zombies)
This sort of upgrade has been happening for a few years now with Call of Duty, but in recent years, you'd of course have to fork out $70 for the game itself - making the $100 buy-in quite a tough pill to swallow. Now though, the upgrade will only be a $30 purchase for Game Pass subscribers, making the Vault Edition Upgrade a more tempting proposition - even though the majority of these goodies are only cosmetic items for Black Ops 6.
Remember that to access BO6 Multiplayer and Online Zombies you'll need Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate - and the team has also confirmed that an internet connection is required to play any portion of the game, including campaign.

Exactly like every other major release on Xbox like Forza, you can get the add-ons bundle separately. That's better than buying the deluxe editions if you are subscribed to Game Pass.
CoD + GamePass= A true game changer!
i want to know why the old cods arent on game pass.
Defo happy to have this on game pass...means can potentially play with the missus and 2 kids on 4 seperate consoles without having to fork out ridiculous amounts 2 copies of the game
Saving £70 this year thanks to this being on gamepass.
I'm surprised, and very happy, they aren't doing the awful pay for "early access" model with this. Play Day 6 on Game Pass doesn't have the same ring to it. Hopefully we'll see less of that.
@themightyant Games that have a Beta for a limited amount of sign ups must cause you some problems then.
So what's happening with the old COD games on Game Pass?
@themightyant I don't see it that way. If you wanted to buy the game - not 'pre-order' for some 'bonus' that is useless post release (like some beta test or 'early' access), then it's exactly the SAME day release. You can't walk into a shop or buy it digitally to play on that 'early' release date - that's a 'bonus'
Officially, the game doesn't launch until that day and in the record books, it will say the game launched 'Day 1' on Game Pass whether or not it had some 'pre-order' bonuses (inc a few days early access).
If you don't 'pre-order' you often didn't get access to beta tests or early access - that was before Games came to Game Pass. You had to pre-order CoD to get into their Beta tests and/or get 'early access'.
I'll probably go for the Upgrade on this myself...
Well now i will pay for it we are all winning here ppl good times 💚
This is what I was hoping for. I have nothing against payment for a premium package. I paid for the Horizon 5 DLC and Starfield. But having the base game included and not increasing the price (for now anyway) is what I wanted.
@rustyduck I think they are working on it.
@rustyduck More then likely cause they are hacked to ***** and open people's Xbox accounts to the hackers. MS don't want to deal with the fallout of people getting their accounts hacked.
