Today, we brought you the news that Kena: Bridge of Spirits is making the jump from PlayStation to Xbox this August, and a first glance at the physical version reveals that Xbox is going with a different box art design for its release.
As you can see in the image below, the Xbox logo remains in the top-left corner with a slightly altered style, while the platforms are now being listed in the top-right. It's not a massive change, but it's a notable one nonetheless.
As spotted by VGC, the Limited Run Games release of Clock Tower Rewind is also sporting this new style of box art, so it seems like it's going to be the standard template moving forward. That said, there's no official word yet.
There's been some concern for a while about Xbox potentially pulling out of the physical market, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer suggested otherwise back in February, so fingers crossed they'll stick around for many more years to come.
What are your first thoughts on this new box art design? Let us know in the comments section.

Looks like they finally realized how hideous that white banner was
I like the new design.
I like it. Not differentiating this generation's box art was just a lazy choice (and yet another bad decision). These look nice!
Haha, again? Funny enough, I like it when it changes all the time. It makes Series X games look hideous on my shelf all next to each other, but that also just kind of adds to the character of the console to me! I'll admit, I preferred the last one, but I think this is pretty slick too.
On the positive from this, Microsoft at least still cares about physical juuuuuust enough that they care about how the games are presented at retail. Although that being said, I do still firmly believe that this is going to be the last Xbox console with physical releases, but I'm also not very smart so that could also be completely wrong.
Looks much neater
I like it how they don’t put:
XBOX SERIES S/X.
They even include XBOX ONE
if compatible of course.
Anyway like the new box art.
I like that. Even tho I don’t have any physical games. Good looking artwork. I wish there was more steel cases for games i do love. Those I would buy just to have and display.
Well they won't put Series S on the box would they....
I like it but honestly never had a problem with the current box art.
Looks a lot better than the old one. I'm all digital these days, but that's a lot cleaner and less like a budget reissue cover.
i mean, it’s nice/modern/clean/professional & all, but i miss when game cases and consoles looked more .. video gamey and less corporate?? like the original xbox and game case. one thing i appreciate about the ps5 irregardless of whether it looks good or not is how surreal it looks
Looks like what Nintendo is doing. Just a little logo on top left, I like it more space for the artwork, but I was under the impression that Xbox would not release physical games anymore
You mean like a praying mantis with wings and blue lasers as eyes? 🤣
It looks quite great!
The Kena will go on my shelf along with both Xbox One and Xbox Series games. The boxes are almost identical and they play forward sooo they all stay together. A shelf of OG Xbox, a shelf of Xbox 360, and a combined shelf of Xbox One and Series.
I noticed this with Clock Tower but though it might just be a Limited Run thing. Looks good to me.
Of course contrarians need post here.
My entire Xbox library is digital (likewise with PS5).
(almost all Switch titles are physical)
I've never owned a physical Xbox game, despite having a Series X, and I doubt I ever will, but the new style is vastly superior to the old.
There are physical releases?
Looks fine but why do they keep doing this lol
Nice! Glad they did this.
I do understand why they don't list the Series S on the box...
Well, where do you insert the disc?
MUCH better visually. Though that white text on top of a picture won't work with all images and needs more careful curation.
I’m not sure that I’d even know where to go to buy a physical copy of a new game any more.
