If you're a big Palworld fan and you've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of dedicated servers on Xbox, you'll be glad to know that they're arrived... kind of. Although they're not fully available yet, you can still access them as of today!
This is via a new service called the Palworld Update Preview, which provides you with "early access to new features and game updates". We're assuming this also means there's a chance of running into more bugs, but if you're happy to take the risk, the good news is that your existing game saves are compatible with this Update Preview program.
"Pocketpair has been hard at work and are now ready to deliver the much-requested dedicated server feature to all Palworld Update Preview participants on both Xbox and Windows. Players can now connect to both Official and Community Dedicated Servers. Create your own server, invite your friends, and adventure across Palpagos in your very own private Palworld instance."
Here's how to join the Palworld Update Preview on Xbox:
- Go to (or download) the Xbox Insider Hub app on your Xbox console
- Select "Previews" followed by "Palworld Update Preview"
- Select "Join"
- You should now be directed to install the preview
If you have any issues after joining the preview, Xbox advises to restart your console "to ensure you get prompted to update to the Palworld Update Preview version". Palworld developer Pocketpair has also provided a handy document for anyone who's looking to start their own dedicated server on Xbox, so be sure to check that out.

Dedicated servers should have been there from day one for Xbox & PC gamepass players, not six months later.
@oopsiezz it's extremely rare that they are available at all. The only other game of that I know of that allows this is Valheim. I was under the impression Xbox policies didnt allow this and forced people to use services like Gportal. If there has been a change, it's huge news. I'm not sure if that is the case, or there is just 2 exceptions for 2 extremely popular games.
@oopsiezz How do you expect a small indie dev to provide dedicated servers?
The only reason this is even happening to begin with is because Microsoft offered to step in.
@Jenkinss Nah there are no limits on third party dedicated servers, players can run so long as the game supports it. Pretty much everything from Space Engineers to Arma Reforger and Ark supports them.
Now first party, dedicated servers, the player can run? Yes. Pretty much unheard of.
