PAX co-organizers ReedPop and Penny Arcade have today announced that Xbox's Phil Spencer will have a big presence at the PAX West 2024 event. Kicking off the show on August 30th, Phil will deliver "the opening Storytime speech" for this year's edition of the convention, which runs through September 2nd.
Phil will be exactly where he's used to being, on the main stage, delivering "an informative and engaging talk on his expansive career in the games industry" - which very much sounds like something we'd be interested in hearing more about.
Here's what the co-founder of Penny Arcade and PAX, Jerry Holkins, had to say on scoring Phil for the event:
"Phil Spencer is at the center of something unprecedented with Microsoft Gaming,
It's a tremendous responsibility. I can't wait to find out what the industry looks like from where he's sitting."
We're not 100% sure on whether Phil's speech will be broadcast for viewers at home, but plenty of past Storytime speeches seem to be available on YouTube, so we're hoping this year's opener finds its way online during the event. We've been told to "stay tuned for a full schedule", so hopefully that includes Phil's appearance.
If you're in the area and don't want to rely on livestreamed content, PAX West badges can be picked up online at $250 for a 4-day badge, or $66 for single-day badges for Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday.
