It's no secret that we've loved our time with Obsidian's Pentiment here at Pure Xbox - we gave the game a 9/10 in our review back in 2022 - so it's great to see that the game is still winning awards over 18 months since its release.
This latest award is a Peabody Award, and it's for the "Immersive & Interactive" category. Previous winners of the award include Life is Strange: True Colors, Never Alone and Journey. Here's a bit more about it:
"The Peabody Awards have expanded its award categories to recognize storytelling achievements across interactive, immersive and new media categories, including Gaming, Interactive Journalism, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Social Video, Interactive Documentary, Transmedia Storytelling, and more. In 2022, The Peabody Awards Interactive Board of Jurors unveiled a distinguished “Legacy class” of winners that demonstrate the depth of these digital formats and emphasize the foundational standards for future award recipients."
On the official Peabody Awards website, Pentiment is described as having achieved this award for its "innovative fusion of sweeping historical sagas with smaller personal tales, and for exemplifying player agency in storytelling".
If you haven't tried it yet, don't forget that Pentiment is (of course) included with Xbox Game Pass, and as of a few weeks ago, you can even buy it on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch now! The choice is up to you...
