Wales Interactive's Sker Ritual sort of came out of nowhere earlier this month, at least on console, and the game's 1.0 launch has gotten off to an impressive start following a length PC Early Access period. The zombie-FPS is charting on both Xbox and Steam, as the development team feels "totally blown away" by the game's reception so far.
Right after launch, the dev saw the game "reach top 2" in the Steam Top Sellers list - at the time of writing it's down to number 8 for game sales on the platform. Over on Xbox, Sker Ritual is number 6 in the UK and number 5 in the US for Top Paid games on Microsoft's digital storefront right now.
To put things into perspective, this is now the indie dev's "most successful launch of all time", even though it was created by a small group of just five developers at the studio behind Maid of Sker, Five Dates and more. This looks like a huge win for the team, so congrats to them for landing Sker Ritual in a big way!
Here at Pure Xbox we weren't the game's biggest fans - we thought going back and booting up something like Call of Duty Zombies, Left 4 Dead or Gears Horde mode would be the better choice for most players. Clearly though, lots of folks are enjoying Sker Ritual's take on the genre, and at £17.99 / $22.49 with a launch discount, it might be worth trying for yourself on Xbox!
