If you were as disappointed as us to hear that Immortals Fenyx Rising 2 was apparently cancelled by Ubisoft last year, you might want to keep an eye on Eternal Strands, which is the debut, self-published title from Yellow Brick Games.
The studio, which is made up of various ex-Ubisoft and BioWare devs (including former Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw), is taking inspiration from the likes of Monster Hunter, Shadow of the Colossus and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for this new action-adventure game, which is scheduled for release in 2025.
In Eternal Strands, you'll play as a Weaver called Brynn as you wield telekinetic powers and tackle huge beasts with a mix of sword, spell, and mobility in an attempt to "keep the world from crumbling" and save your people’s cultural home.
Look out for this one on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S at some point next year.
"Play as Brynn, a young but fearless Weaver, determined to recover her people’s cultural home in the debut fantasy action-adventure title from Yellow Brick Games, a new independent studio founded by industry veterans.
Armed with powerful magical abilities and an arsenal of magical weapons, face enemies that range from humanoid constructs to towering beasts. Use the environment and temperature to your advantage in battles against a diverse roster of fantastical creatures, like turning a dragon’s fiery breath against ice-covered minions. Climb every surface and use arcane skills to create new paths. Explore the world in pursuit of the Enclave’s lost mysteries and challenge giant titans on your journey."
