Last week, Microsoft announced that 7 Days to Die is leaving Xbox Game Pass this month, and now we know that the dev team is going even further by delisting the game entirely. The existing Xbox One title — which is way behind the PC build in terms of updates — will soon be delisted in favour of an updated Xbox Series X|S version coming July 2024.
The team has delivered a new roadmap and a detailed FAQ page on the move this week, as 7 Days to Die finally leaves early access on PC. We'll drop the dev's roadmap down below, which includes tentative release windows for the 1.0 PC launch, the new console version, and three future updates:

This upcoming Xbox Series X|S build of the zombie MMO will get fresh content alongside the PC edition, which marks a change from the game on last-gen consoles. That last-gen version will be delisted "when the new version releases", and existing save progress will not carry over from one to the other.
However, there is good news elsewhere. Existing 7 Days to Die owners will be able to continue playing the old version if they own it (the team doesn't mention anything about last-gen server status though), and the team says it's "working closely with Sony and Microsoft to provide a discount to digital legacy owners" when picking up the new-gen version.
"Due to the significant technical differences between old and current console hardware, we will not be upgrading the legacy version. Legacy owners will have to buy the new title. However, we are working closely with Sony and Microsoft to provide a discount to digital legacy owners on their purchase of the new console edition.
We made the decision early on to focus on a ‘new’ version of the game that is unified with our PC version, and our efforts to update the game post-launch will be entirely focused on that version."
At the time of writing, neither the dev team nor Microsoft has mentioned Xbox Game Pass - where the current version of 7 Days to Die resides until April 30th. We wouldn't expect this Xbox Series X|S release to be included with Game Pass on day one though - the team seems focused on existing owners and bringing them over for the time being.

Fina-effing-lly. Haven't touched the Xbox One version since someone on the forums said something about ownership of assets or something like that meaning consoles wouldn't be updated anymore. Can't wait.
My nephew and I used to play this game all the time. Can't wait to let him know the new version is finally coming out.
This article just raises more questions for me:
@101Force can’t answer 2 and 3 for you but I can answer 1. You are most certainly buying the old version which you could then get a discount for th4 upgrade in July, if you don’t own it I’m guessing you’re better off waiting until July
@101Force Unfortunately there is no splitscreen even for Series X. Shame since that was the main draw for me to buy on console in the first place.
Problems with modern gaming
It's cool, it's cool....legacy owners, founders, and alpha backers will just collectively review bomb the title. Potential buyers will be deterred from purchasing and they'll lose a ton of potential sales due to their greed and betrayal. I for one was an alpha backer for....seems like more than a decade, patiently waiting for the full release, just to be taken out like the trash, without consideration that us old-school backers are the sole reason they even had the money to make a game to begin with. Almost all other alpha early access titles followed through on their promises. These guys will have a 2.5-star average game and people will see that and stay tf away. And for you trolls who want to bash my comment, jist remember this isn't just a crappy game...it's our money, time, and trust that was flushed down the toilet. I hope much worst happens tocthem besides bombing in the store page. The greed and ignorance deserves so much more. It's fine. It'll bomb. And I'll male sure I'm one of the first reviews visible on that store page. I'll set my watch to it. SMH. These guys are just so dumb. They deleted the entire backer population with their greed.
I love greed don't you 😃 people on PS4 and Xbox one have waited years and years for updates way before these consoles were out or even thought of yet they get abandoned and delisted by a greedy company. Took so many people's money and ***** them over with no updates or new content absolutely nothing. Meanwhile PC gets everything and now the current gen consoles do as well which millions still don't have.
so, us who owned game for years on console, we will get a BIG potato... And you will try and work with sony and xbox to give legacy owners a discount... Well, i hope u will be bombarded with negative reviews and comments and low scores...
Once again, being PC gamer pays off.
Honestly this happens often when a game is remastered or released for a new console. On a few rare occasions the older games are still available for purchase but in most cases publishers pull the old games and stop selling the older versions, which is very easy to do with digital versions.
