Last week, Microsoft announced that 7 Days to Die is leaving Xbox Game Pass this month, and now we know that the dev team is going even further by delisting the game entirely. The existing Xbox One title — which is way behind the PC build in terms of updates — will soon be delisted in favour of an updated Xbox Series X|S version coming July 2024.

The team has delivered a new roadmap and a detailed FAQ page on the move this week, as 7 Days to Die finally leaves early access on PC. We'll drop the dev's roadmap down below, which includes tentative release windows for the 1.0 PC launch, the new console version, and three future updates:

'7 Days To Die' Is Coming To Xbox Series X|S, Existing Xbox One Version To Be Delisted 1

This upcoming Xbox Series X|S build of the zombie MMO will get fresh content alongside the PC edition, which marks a change from the game on last-gen consoles. That last-gen version will be delisted "when the new version releases", and existing save progress will not carry over from one to the other.

However, there is good news elsewhere. Existing 7 Days to Die owners will be able to continue playing the old version if they own it (the team doesn't mention anything about last-gen server status though), and the team says it's "working closely with Sony and Microsoft to provide a discount to digital legacy owners" when picking up the new-gen version.

"Due to the significant technical differences between old and current console hardware, we will not be upgrading the legacy version. Legacy owners will have to buy the new title. However, we are working closely with Sony and Microsoft to provide a discount to digital legacy owners on their purchase of the new console edition.

We made the decision early on to focus on a ‘new’ version of the game that is unified with our PC version, and our efforts to update the game post-launch will be entirely focused on that version."

At the time of writing, neither the dev team nor Microsoft has mentioned Xbox Game Pass - where the current version of 7 Days to Die resides until April 30th. We wouldn't expect this Xbox Series X|S release to be included with Game Pass on day one though - the team seems focused on existing owners and bringing them over for the time being.
