Don't get too excited, but one of the creators of the Xbox seems to be teasing something to do with a prototype of the original system.
Yes, remember the giant chrome X-shaped design originally showcased before the actual retail console? Well, Seamus Blackley (often referred to as "the father of Xbox") has shared a post on social media, mentioning how the "prototype for the prototype" of the OG system "deserves better" than just sitting in his garage all day. He signs off with a photo of it and a brief message: "stay tuned".
"The prototype for the prototype deserves better than to be in a box in my garage. Stay tuned."
This post has created plenty of buzz on social media - with many fans mentioning how they would love to see the prototype return in some way or form. At first glance, Blackley's tease seems to be tied to the preservation of this vital part of Xbox history.
There was a time in recent years though when Seamus spoke of reviving the classic Xbox experience. Back in 2021, Blackley put out a message to fans asking if they would be interested in a possible return of the OG Xbox that could play classic games. He was apparently amazed by the positive response, claiming at the time he would have to get permission from Xbox boss Phil Spencer, but then later suggested it didn't amount to anything.
Again though, who knows what this latest tease could lead to - so, we'll just have to wait and see!
