You already know how much we adore Microsoft Rewards despite some of the drawbacks the service has suffered in recent months, and one of those has arrived this week in the form of some price increases for various Gift Cards.
Over the past 24 hours, Xbox fans have been taking to social media (and the Pure Xbox forums!) to highlight some of these increases, which appear to affect everything from Xbox Gift Cards to Amazon Gift Cards.
It doesn't appear to be a massive jump (just a couple of percent in most places), but it's still an increase!
However, before we get too doom-and-gloom about this, it should be pointed out that Microsoft Rewards prices appear to have actually gone down in certain regions, such as Canada, Australia and Norway.
Here are a couple of examples of those price decreases from the Microsoft Rewards subreddit:
So, while on the surface this might seem like a tactic to make Microsoft Rewards less lucrative for Xbox owners, it seems like Microsoft is simply trying to balance things out a bit more - which isn't great for those of us in some regions!
Anyway, you can head over to the "Redeem" section of the Microsoft Rewards app on your Xbox (as seen in the image above) to see the latest prices for yourself, and hopefully the changes haven't put any major dents in your plans!
Have you noticed any Microsoft Rewards price increases or decreases? Let us know in the comments.

Still waiting for Microsoft Rewards to exist in my region.
@Lup Yikes! That's awful. When you get it, although it requires some work, it is a great program. I had enough points for $105 worth in xbox gift cards and got the Ultimate Edition of Like a Dragon: Infinte Wealth for only $5 out of pocket.
In Brazil, it gone really down. A R$ 30 gift card has been 10300 points and now it's 7500. But I could not reddeem one through the Bing App on my phone, it doesn't end the process. I'll try on the console later.
In Canada the amounts has gone down … the $25 has now gone down from 26,900 to 17,815
Decrease the amount you can earn, then increase the prices. Just speedrunning wracking up those L's big or small & resentment towards your company.
I had just earned a $50 xbox gift card earlier this week, and the points change required a few more days to get back to it. I think it went from 46k points to 47.5k in my region.
@Divide_and_Wander I just checked and still showing 46k for a $50 xbox card at the moment in the US.
@raftos I used a different browser and it worked - Bing showed the wrong amount of points and it would not go through…
Yh they upped it, exchange for a tenner is +1000 or so now
Unfortunately this is not unusual from time to time, effectively rebalancing exchange rates for different currencies. Some will win, some will lose.
Just checked uk and it's gone up. A £5 shop voucher (argos) has gone up 525 points!!! Xbox ones gone up as well.
@FarmDog08 - Cash in while you can! 😆
I can't imagine they would do it my specific state, unless it's slowly being rolled out.
@Divide_and_Wander Yeah. I'm just stocking up now. I'm good on Game Pass through April next year so I'm good to sit on it and cash in on the occasional game from time-to-time.
I noticed it on the £10 gift card option, I had it set to save up to and noticed it's now 12000 points instead of 11700
@AlwaysPlaying Thanks, mate! Tried on Edge and it worked
@AlwaysPlaying I kinda feel like the reduction in points needed in Canada was a mistake, 34% reduction in points to redeem for a CAD$25 gift card is quite generous. I'm surprised Microsoft is that generous to us despite inflation, etc... Im building up points to pay for the next gen series X, otherwise I would redeem the points now
I haven't looked, I always buy the 100$ card when I get to 91k, usually get about 4 a year. It sucks if it went up but to be fair they actually made getting points a little easier and faster the last month or so. It might not quite make up for it but either way it's free money and we've all benefitted from it. I know I've gotten probably a dozen free full priced games over the years, maybe more.
@GoldenPants I cashed out one $25 card but there is that great commercial in Canada where the wife is holding the receipt and she thinks there is a mistake and she is screaming to her husband “get in the car … get in the car”
As long as GPU stays the same not to bothered by any other increases. They seem to make tweaks and adjustments to this almost monthly at this point. Wonder what the reason is
Thank you for the australian price change! Saving for Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth with the dlc. It's $180 AUD and I can't justify spending that much even though it's my favourite series.
ive done alight so far out of rewards Xbox series X and S and 42 games. now saving up points for ps5
Damn it. I was geting close to the £25 voucher, and now I need to grind even more. Which they've made even harder so this combined with the nerf to points gain has made all rewards FAR more expensive.
It nice that in Canada they have reduced the points needs for a $5 gift card from the 4800 points to 3565 that you now need. Unfortunately there is considerable less ways to earn points. Outside of the game pass rewards the only other option on the Xbox is the rewards app which still gives the weekly quest (for now). Before the rewards app offered monthly quests but that only lasted a year before disappearing. There was also a punch card every month for buy 3 movies over $5 which gave ~2400 points. They also had punch cards for buying so much in movies or games that were on sale, now permanently gone. I hope they keep give the weekly quests, I was on a 70 week streak and unfortunately it got reset.
