Update (Mon 9th Sep, 2024): Well, the original plan for Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland was that it was coming to Xbox in March (as mentioned in the original story below), but it ended up getting delayed until September 10th.
If you're interested, you can check out the brand-new trailer for the game up above, and we also included it as part of our 10 Exciting Xbox Indie Games To Look Out For In September 2024 feature earlier today.
Original story (Mon 5th Feb, 2024): Anyone for a new Rugrats game?! That's exactly what we're getting in the form of Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland this March (exact date TBD), which takes the form of a NES-inspired platformer with multiple art styles to choose from.
In the game, you'll embark on an "adorable" adventure for up to two players spread across six standalone levels. The 8-bit art style is reminiscent of the NES and Game Boy eras, whereas the hand-drawn HD style looks more modern.
If you're excited for Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, a free demo is available on PC as part of the Steam Next Fest, and then it'll be heading to a bunch of platforms including Xbox at some point in March. We're looking forward to this!
"Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland brings a baby-fresh take on retro gameplay. By mixing elements from the NES era with modern design sensibilities, today’s parents can introduce kids to a nostalgic franchise through an adorable co-op adventure for up to two players where babies must stick together to win. Toggle between 8-bit art for an authentic retro gameplay experience and HD art featuring hand-drawn animations for a trip straight back to the iconic Nickelodeon TV show."

Hopefully comes to gamepass loved the rugrats as a kid the old PS1 game was great
The HD version looks fantastic.
As a ‘90’s kid, I’m absurdly excited for this.
As a 90s kid, never watched the show but I do know someone who would be interested.
Reviews when?
the paris game on ps1 blows. hated that game as a kid
Grew up watching Rugrats. To this day, my mom will text me every so often with the "making chocolate pudding at 3AM" clip. It cracked her up when I was a kid, and still holds a spot even to this day. I'll play this just to take a trip down memory lane!
Free on epic game store on Thursday. Wish it was on game pass instead
The article didn’t mention it explicitly, but this is literally an NES game, built for NES. The high def mode is built on top of that. This is meant to be like the golden era Capcom games. I’m betting it’s going to be great, and I’ll be playing in NES mode only thanks.
Is this the quickest after launch that a game got an HD Remaster?
Also sucks about the physical for Xbox being LRG and been and gone. Standard these days.
I'm not sure why but I hated the style of rugrats when I was a kid, not to mention it was only initially on sky which was very expensive early 90s. Think I was slightly too old when this came to itv and I was much more into things like the TV series reboot and the kids gameshows by that point.
I watched Rugrats a lot as a really young kid and loved it. Plus I love 2D platformers. This is right up my alley.
FYI: if you have PC, the game will be free to claim on Epic from the 12th - 19th. Kinda shocked but I’ll take this for free!
@jesse_dylan Honestly I seen it was free on Epic on Thursday to and didn't realise it was a new game so I will be getting it on there.
