The fantastic Persona 3 Reload made its debut on Xbox Game Pass as a day one launch title earlier this month, but even despite its inclusion, it's ended up being the fastest-selling game in Atlus history!
The news was announced earlier today, where it was confirmed that the game had surpassed "one million units sold within the first seven days". Specific sales breakdowns for each platform haven't been revealed.
"Today, ATLUS is excited to announce that worldwide sales of its recently released RPG remake, Persona 3 Reload, surpassed one million units sold within the first seven days. This milestone makes Persona 3 Reload the fastest-selling game to reach the aforementioned sales number in ATLUS’ history.
ATLUS and the Persona 3 Reload team would like to thank players around the world for their continued support and the game’s warm reception. The title currently has a metascore of 88 on Metacritic and has received positive feedback from longtime fans and newcomers alike."
We're obviously delighted to see these sales figures for Persona 3 Reload, especially considering we gave it a huge 9/10 score in our review here at Pure Xbox, calling it an "excellent remake of one of the very best RPGs around".
If you're unsure what to play next on Xbox Game Pass, we think this is definitely a worthy candidate!

Really enjoying the game so far! Glad to see it is doing well as this will give them bigger budgets for future investment.
I scooped the collectors edition..,but I mean Sega also released Infinite Wealth the week before. Both are massive games, but I went with Infinite Wealth. I’ll probs play P3R in December 😅
Well the Fan base has spoken … with their wallets… but will it even be in the conversation of GOTY as even Infinite Wealth has seemingly edged it out in Feb….
Speaking of, does anyone know why the standard edition is not available for sale? I have it in my wishlist so I can watch for sales, despite having GP, this and Man who Erased his Name are games I simply need to own in my library regardless, but it shows up as not available for purchase, and directs you to the $80 digital deluxe, instead. I thought it was just the Atlus Tax at work, but it's available on the PS store, and it's actually digitally available for XB on Amazon.
(Yes, I know that's 2 posts in 2 days while I'm technically supposed to be lurking and ghosting to not get tied up in the drama, but, alas... )
I don’t really get the high praise for this game. I’m going into my 8th hour so far and to me it is a shallow experience, but that’s just me, I guess … Nevertheless, I would like to know the sales numbers on Xbox and Windows, since that is where the Game Pass is currently. Given the concern some have that their games won’t sell when Game Pass is involved, that would be very interesting.
I need to finish Persona 5 Tactica first.
@NEStalgia You're doing the right thing, but I also miss some common sense like yours, because 90% of the comments are catastrophic. Regarding your question, there are three versions. The good thing about the new Xbox store is that it always shows the alternatives unlike the older store.
1) Press Y on the store, search for "Persona 3". Select Persona 3 Reload.
2) This will bring the three versions on screen for buyers to make their choice. Select Persona 3 Reload.
3) You have several options, select "Buy to own". You get the confirm payment screen (I am checking as I type). The price in the payment screen is the correct for the regular version: £59.98, $69.99 or €69.99.
Japanese game developers consistently putting out high quality, polished games on day 1 launch - not like the typical buggy beta-like messes we see from western developers.
@Banjo- Hah, yeah, those 90% catastrophe comments are the reason I try really hard to merely lurk and focus on other hobbies. I miss gaming before this generation. The companies had personality, passion, the fans...ok, gamers were always a toxic cesspool since Nintendo vs Sega kids hit the schoolyard, but it was a somewhat less toxic cesspool. And there was E3. Good days. Now we have 3 corporations that might as well be selling toothpaste and investment bonds, no big event, and an army of "fans" willing to die for their favorite toothpaste corporation on the internet. Bleh.
P3R: I checked it last night and it's working now! Weird, I'd checked it several days in a row and every time it would say that edition isn't available, please select another edition. I thought for sure it was Atlus trying to force everyone to buy the $80 version if you didn't preorder because Atlus until I saw it on Amazon and the PS store. Must have been a store glitch.
Actually, now that I think about it, that glitch would have prevented getting it on GP, too. If you go through the Game Pass interface on the console you could still download it from the GP specific page, but if you went through the store page, it didn't have the "Play now with Game Pass button" it just showed it as an unavailable edition, please select the $80 one. Now it has both the GP and the Buy to own button like it should, but for days it didn't.
Probably won't actually buy it or play it for a while still...waiting on sales, and I'm still binging on Yakuza....currently enduring the dumpster fire that is Y6's story though. That story is seriously bad, no wonder they had to resurrect Kiryu to kill him off properly in 8.
