Craving a new dinosaur-filled shooter after years of neglect from the Dino Crisis series? Well, Xbox and indie studio DangerousBob think they might have the solution.
As detailed in a new Xbox Wire post, Fossilfuel 2 has just hit Xbox Series X and S consoles after its recent PC release, and it sounds pretty promising for a smaller title. The team describes this one as 'dinosaur survival horror', and it features a main campaign, horde mode, a sandbox mode and more.
The indie title has been out for a few days now and the early fan reception seems pretty positive - it could be worth checking out if you want some dino-FPS action! Here are some of the game's core features, straight from the team:
- First-Person Survival Horror: Step into Jack’s shoes and sneak around maze-like corridors, hide in vents, and lay traps, as raptors hunt you down.
- Non-Linear Layout: Explore the flooded base, revisit areas, upgrade weapons, and create safe zones by draining water unlocking the game’s multiple endings.
- Glorious Gory Detail: Blast dinos apart, earning the game that M rating, with an arsenal of deadly weapons, from shotguns and magnums to flamethrowers that dynamically light up enemies.
- Scuba Gear Required: Dive into flooded hallways and rooms, battling monsters of the deep, as aquatic dinos prove to be just as threatening as their land-based relatives.
- War Photographer: Use a digital camera to snap pictures of dinosaurs. Photo points can be traded to get upgrades and weapons adding an RPG element to the game.
Fossilfuel 2 will set you back $19.99 / £16.74 on Xbox Series X|S. Let us know if you might dive in and try this one out!

I think I might buy this. Looks good and I have need for some Dino action survival.
i'll add it to wish list and see what people think about it. really should be on game pass imo.
I already pre-ordered.
There's a "Dinos Vs Robots" sale on Steam at the moment, so I ended up watching trailers for the first Fossilfuel game yesterday. It looks like a cheaply made asset flip, if I'm being honest.
