We'd argue there have been three particularly major releases on Xbox this week, but one of them (Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden) has gone under the radar compared to the other two (Tomb Raider and Skull & Bones).
That's understandable considering the competition it was up against, but you definitely shouldn't overlook this one! In fact, looking at the Microsoft Store right now, Banishers has an almost perfect rating of 4.8/5 with Xbox fans.
Here are some of the reviews we've been seeing on the store so far:
King Legungi on Xbox: "Absolutely brilliant game thus far. Very intriguing story. I'm in love with it. An absolute gem of a game. Well done DONT NOD, you've outdone yourself yet again."
doctorblud on Xbox: "DONT NOD & Focus have absolutely outdone themselves. The story is excellent and really draws you in. The map & visuals are stunning although hope film grain is optional in future. Love the multiple ending possibilities. Camera movement could do with a slight tweak for stability but it's not causing any gameplay difficulty. Overall great game & super enjoyable."
Mongooseeyy on Xbox: "Amazing AA experience. This game is fun to play in the vein of God of War. It's got an excellent, unique story - with an interesting twist on choices and their consequences. It graphically looks spectacular on performance mode. The industry needs a recalibration in what high-end games we should expect, and this is a perfect example."
CupricPrism9367 on Xbox: "BUY THIS NOW 👌👌 Banishers is a single-player lover's dream. God of War, GreedFall and Vampyr had a baby - this is it. I really cant put into words how good and rare a game like this is."
So, there's undoubtedly a lot of love going around for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden right now, which was somewhat represented in the critics' reviews earlier this week, with the game landing on an 81 Metacritic average for Xbox.
For Xbox Series X owners, there is actually a physical version of the game available to purchase from various retailers, while the digital version is £49.99 / $59.99 on the Microsoft Store with some optional £3.29 / $3.99 DLC.
