The Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has reiterated on multiple occasions how he would be open to returning to the franchise, and the same conversation has now come up again, during an appearance on the 'Xbox Expansion Pass' podcast.
After briefly reflecting on that time the Xbox boss Phil Spencer called him and notified him about the IP's sale to Microsoft, he mentioned how he had "plenty of ideas about where the franchise could go" and would love "nothing more to have somebody reach out".
He also thinks Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 are both "good" games, but felt "a little bit of heart" was missing. He elaborated on his thoughts more with Gears 5, stating how he wasn't a big fan of the ending - as the team painted themselves "into a corner narratively" with "the whole choose your own adventure vibe".
Bleszinski also thinks the series and its community could benefit from his return from a PR perspective - referencing the fan base, and saying he believes it could be "really, really huge" for the franchise.
We don't know much about what's next for Gears right now, but just recently The Coalition has been on a huge hiring spree for what might be the new entry in the series.
