Insurgency: Sandstorm is one of our very favourite shooters on Xbox Game Pass, and the game is now becoming properly optimised for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.
The team at Focus Entertainment is finally delivering the game's next-gen upgrade today, January 30th, after years in the making. The title first launched on Xbox in 2021 and has been Xbox Series X|S 'aware' since then - running at 60FPS on current-gen systems.
However, this native upgrade brings a lot more than higher frame rates. Once today's update drops, the game will take advantage of new-gen SSDs for faster load times, will apply 'enhanced textures' to increase overall fidelity, and it'll also feature cross-gen play to boot.

On Xbox, resolution figures will be bumped up to a native 4K / 60FPS on Series X, and 1080p / 60FPS on Series S - a nice boost from the existing Xbox One visual setup.
At the time of writing this upgrade hasn't quite gone live, but you can expect to see it drop later today. In the meantime, feel free to take a look at us gushing over this Xbox Game Pass shooter - we think it's one of the best of its kind!
