Xbox and Activision Blizzard have only been one entity for a little over a month, at least officially, but the two companies seem to be coming together at speedy pace so far. Speaking at a recent summit, Xbox CFO Tim Stuart talked about the team integrating with ActiBlizz, and how the process is going (thanks, TechRaptor).
When discussing the acquisition, Stuart remarked about how quickly the teams have merged during the first month-or-so of being together:
"Thankfully we both talk a gaming language and even the few months since we've been a entity, the speed of which we've integrated and the speed at which we've worked together is really impressive."
Sticking with that topic, the Xbox exec also discussed the big reasons behind the merger going ahead in the first place. It sounds like much of Microsoft's reasoning came down to the expertise that Activision Blizzard holds within its development teams.
"At the highest level, it's leveraging what Activision is so good at, which is consoles, and PC, and mobile... How do we take that great DNA, make it an accelerant to the IP that we have, leverage the great assets that they have and the expertise that they have?"
It's sounding like things are progressing nicely at the moment then, which is good news for Xbox fans. Much of the community is eagerly anticipating ActiBlizz Game Pass news and things of that nature, so the quicker the merging happens, the better for Xbox fans. Who knows, after today's cryptic tweet from Sarah Bond, maybe we're in for a treat sooner than we thought? Maybe.
