Obsidian is one of the many talented studios working under the Xbox banner, and it appears its 2019 sci-fi action RPG The Outer Worlds has now shifted more than 5 million copies.
This information comes from publisher Private Division, congratulating the team on four years and all of the sales. Xbox boss Phil Spencer also chimed in to congratulate both parties. It's not specifically mentioned how these sales have been calculated but it's presumably across all platforms and regions.
Since its original launch, The Outer Worlds has been re-released for Xbox Series X|S. This version includes remastered visuals, performance improvements, an increased level cap, and all of the game's DLC. Obsidian is also busy with The Outer Worlds 2, but there hasn't been a mention of that for some time now.

great sales numbers didn't think its doing that good! obsidian is in my eyes a studio that can be insomaniac to xbox,and even better as they always deliver on time and are creative in many genres just look ate their last games (pentiment,the outer world, grounded) very different yet great games, i hope xbox will inject them with steroid (i mean funds and give them more talented staff to be able to work on 2 AAA games same time)
and please dont rush Avowed it looks fun but it really needs a big graphic upgrade
I think outer worlds is a better Bethesda type space rpg than starfield

I wonder if these 5 million are a combination of the base version and Spacer's Choice version or just the base version.

took me about 30 hours perfect length if you ask me

@trev666 think I might of missed something ,only took me just over 20hrs ,and I dont rush games.

Just had a look and on average its 13hrs,to do everything its 39hrs ,think ill have another go see what I missed.
@ebony-shabba I think any 1st party games on game pass should include the dlc as well.
@TakeItEasy it didn't do that well,4 years selling 5 million on 4 platforms ,6 if they included ps5 and series s/x ,isn't that great.
@Mephisto2869 are you joking? 5 Millions for a AA game made by a medium sized team is an abselute win this is not resident evil or metal gear to expect +10m sales its a new Ip AA with mid funds
@Mephisto2869 gamepass shouldn't include DLC thats too much to ask even from a average salary man like me!! live and let them live, let them get some money from early access and DLCs, if you love the game spend more gush
5 millions is units sold is amazing and it also released on Game Pass day one. I am one of those people that played the game multiple times but never bought it. I will get the definitive edition of the game when it goes on a decent sale
i really enjoyed the humor, companions, and npcs in this game. hope avowed and outer worlds 2 are open world though.
