Annapurna Interactive has announced today that the critically acclaimed adventure game Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition is officially getting a free Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (and PS5) upgrade on Thursday, August 17th.
At the time of writing, we don't yet know what this version includes in terms of visual improvements, with Annapurna simply stating that it's a "native" version for current-gen consoles. The free upgrade has been confirmed though!
If you don't remember it, Kentucky Route Zero first arrived on Xbox in early 2020, but the game itself actually originated back in 2013 with the release of its first "Act". The Xbox version holds an impressive Metacritic score of 84.
We'll throw some more details about Kentucky Route Zero below, along with screenshots.
"KENTUCKY ROUTE ZERO: TV EDITION is a magical realist adventure game in five acts, featuring a haunting electronic score, and a suite of hymns and bluegrass standards recorded by The Bedquilt Ramblers. Rendered in a striking visual style that draws as much from theater, film, and experimental electronic art as it does from the history of videogames, this is a story of unpayable debts, abandoned futures, and the human drive to find community."
