Want to enhance your Xbox Game Pass experience? Come join the official Pure Xbox Game Club!
We can't take any credit on staff for this — the PX Game Club is the work of ralphdibny and the rest of the contributors over at the Pure Xbox forums, who have established a community that meets up every month to play a game on Xbox Game Pass and share their experiences. Games are voted on every month by the contributors involved.
The game for July 2023 is Perfect Dark, and by that we mean the original Perfect Dark which was eventually released on Xbox 360 - which is included as part of Rare Replay as well as Xbox Game Pass.
You'll find the forum thread to get involved below (it has over 2,670 entries to date!):
If you're interested in what kind of discussion goes on, here's what a couple of contributors had to say about last month's Pure Xbox Game Club title, Halo: Combat Evolved:
- AgentCooper on Pure Xbox:
"Finished up the game this evening and I’d warmed up to it by the end, despite the atrocious final level. I think in the end I probably enjoyed it more 22 years ago but the remaster is a solid shooter with some good moments, particularly when the flood are introduced."
- Balta666 on Pure Xbox:
"I have finished the game. Overall I enjoyed it but definitely not as much as Gears of War (but its age has something do do with that). As I heard many say Halo 2 is a big improvement in level design, I will at least give it a go before moving on to other pastures."

Might have another go with this game. Plenty of time spent in split screen mp but probably not for at least 20 years. Still have the original but not worth setting up time and mess.
What a fine vintage. I won’t be replaying it due to the release schedule this year being too thick, but my last playthrough (about ten years ago! Crepes!) of Perfect Dark was wonderful. It’s not necessarily aged gracefully, but there’s so much charm in the N64 fps era. It’s simple shooter fun. Look forward to seeing the fresh opinions of this classic!
Unlike the N64 version, the Xbox version has aged gracefully: 1080p and 60fps. That made me beat the game in normal difficulty much more easily because controls and gameplay are really smoother.
I'll join as soon as I figure out where the expansion pack goes into my xbox
Greatest FPS ever made.
Most comprehensive local multiplayer ever put together.
Prove me wrong.
@Scummbuddy there's a slot on the back but I couldn't fit the n64 expansion pack removal tool in there and now I have to go through an annoying warranty process with Microsoft
I mean, it said expansion slot so I assumed it was for the expansion pak 🤷♂️
Had better luck jamming the rumble pak in to the battery slot on my Xbox controller though 👍
@RadioHedgeFund I've heard good things about No One Lives Forever 1 & 2...
This game completely took over our multiplayer sessions back in 2000, largely replacing Goldeneye. The range of options and weapons, plus the inclusion of bots (which was mind blowing in a console fps on N64 back then) meant that it became a mainstay of Friday night gaming sessions for many years afterwards.
The 360 update was a fantastic way to revisit it, with better controls thanks to the twin sticks. Now being able to play it through the Series X makes it run even better. The only thing missing is my old crew of friends to play it. Would be a big difference playing split screen on a tv twice the size of the CRT tv we used to play on 23 years ago…
@Gamecuber I don't know how I or anyone else ever comfortably played 4-player split-screen multiplayer on a 14-inch CRT at 20fps.
But we bloody did it 🤣
@Markatron84 and we are all the better for it (aside from possibly our eyesight!)😂
@Markatron84 And the frame rate in 4 player split screen was often in the single digits especially when mines/smoke were involved and it turned into a slideshow. And yet it was BRILLIANT!
Really looking forward to this as altough I played a hell off Goldeneye, I never even heard of Perfect Dark until the last decade at the most. Also I had a blast replaying Goldeneye's campaign early on the year and as everyone says this is even better!
