Its great that many others get to play these Games - not just those with an 'Xbox' console. I'd prefer to buy on the Xbox store myself because these games are more likely to be 'Play Anywhere' through the Store - meaning I can play on my 'RoG Ally' as well as my Xbox console(s) or Gaming Laptop, but I don't expect the Steam version to be playable on my Xbox.
Of course I could play 'Steam' on my Ally or Laptop, but I'd rather buy through Xbox so I get the PC & Console versions.
I went the RoG Ally route rather than the Steam Deck...
@BAMozzy How are you liking the ROG Ally so far, is it really good?
I'm interested in getting one but operating on Windows 11 is a put off for me, I bought a Windows 11 laptop recently I hated it so much I reinstalled Windows 10.
@ycshinobi
I just got my ROG Ally this week! Very Impressive.
To configure it I connected a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Added a 1 TB SD card to sync my OneDrive, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Microsoft 365, Spotify, installed a bunch of games that I have on Steam and Xbox GamePass/EA Play. LOL. Even installed Candy Crush Saga from Windows Store. Device plays games perfectly fine. Also, have a substantial library from MS Films & TV that I also can watch on the device. Battery life is thin so bought two 25,000 mha battery packs to keep it running at full resolution and brightness for about 6-8 hours.
I am sure it will bring me 1,000's of hours of entertainment in mobile settings.
Have Candy Crush Sage, Age of Empires I/II, Battletoads, Command & COnquer, Crysis, Death Stranding, Forza Horizon 5, Geometry Wars Evolved, Lego Star Wars Saga, Moving Out, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Psychonauts 2, Rise of Nations, Shadowrun, SimCity, Talespire, and The Ascent on it for gaming.
@ycshinobi Its all relative. I have no issue with Win11 for example so for me that isn't something to 'put me off'. My Gaming Laptop has Win11 too. In my opinion, it seems every 'new' Windows was 'hated' by many with them 'preferring' the Windows they had become accustomed to.
Win 98 for example wasn't 'loved' by many who were happy with Win95. Almost every 'new' Windows wasn't loved by those who had been using the previous on their 'current' hardware but eventually 'upgrade' - either out of necessity or by buying 'new' hardware and become accustomed to the 'new' Windows.
Therefore, if you hate Win11, you may 'hate' the RoG Ally but in my opinion, its an amazing device. Considering its size, weight and what is packed into such a small/thin device, its incredible. The fact is it can play 'every' game on 'PC/Steam' - inc Emulating old Consoles like PS1-3, Nintendo/Sega consoles etc so you have a 'gaming' laptop in a much smaller, more 'gaming' focussed device - of course K&M makes Win11 and the 'PC' side a bit easier, but the touchscreen is 'adequate'.
It depends on what you want. As I said, its 'relative' - My Win11 3080ti Laptop cost more than 4x the price and doesn't really offer 'more'. Of course it can push higher res, higher frames and/or higher Visual settings but it still plays the same games and more 'convenient' to play 'anywhere'.
