We've still got multiple days left in the FTC hearing regarding Microsoft's takeover of Activision Blizzard, and last Friday was a very busy day for Xbox boss Phil Spencer in particular, who spent multiple hours responding to various questions.
Naturally, Spencer rocked up to the court looking smartly dressed in a suit and tie, and this actually attracted quite a lot of attention due to the fact that Spencer is never seen wearing anything that formal!
One particular "Yakuza Phil" meme even promoted a humorous response from the head of Xbox:
As part of the questioning, Spencer again confirmed his intent to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation, as well as mentioning that Starfield could have been a PS5 exclusive prior to Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda - along with much more.
He'll continue to play a role in the FTC hearing as it continues throughout the majority of this week, but we're not expecting him to feature quite as prominently as he did last Friday. In any case, those who were in attendance last week have suggested he made a very good impression - and not just because of the suit and tie!
When was the last time we saw Phil in a suit and tie?! Give us your thoughts down below.

Ok that is genuinely awesome 🤣😂 The Rioter of Redmond is his new nickname 😅
Totally going to become a meme if they beat the FTC 😂
He slayed on the stand. That's certain.
Lol one thing Phil is known for, is NOT to wear a suite and tie.

Haha this is absolutely brilliant. Personally I love how Phil always gives the "one of us" vibe by interacting with the community this way
That meme is beautiful!
Phil comes across as kind of the "slacker executive". That's a good thing when it comes to being part of the community, a bad thing when it comes to managing studios, but it makes him relatable regardless.
@BrilliantBill I mean, why bother buying a new suit? He doesn't need to impress the CEO who already knows he only wear's 90's gaming tees he gets at Gamestop' clearance rack, he only needs to impress Lina. The thirftstore suit thing is more than enough for that.
Plus with how Microsoft is in last place, and lost the console war, and cloud isn't even a business, Phil can't afford a new suit.
i can't help but think thats a pic of phill laughing at xbox console owners.
@BrilliantBill IDK about the Saville Row....every time we see Jim he's just wearing the same bedraggled unbuttoned dress shirt like it was a really long night at the brothel again. Counting stacks and stacks of money is really hard work.
Really, Phil should send him one of those Hexen shirts before they sell out at his local Gamestop's dump table. Jim needs a refreshed wardrobe.
He does have the Omega though.
@NEStalgia @BrilliantBill I'm so glad I'm just a hillbilly and I have absolutely no idea what a Saville Row suit or Omega watch is.
@SplooshDmg Think of your house. Now imagine paying more than that for a suit or a watch.
When you stop laughing, you'll know how Jim spends his weekends. After hitting up the Suntory cabinet.
@NEStalgia Does the watch come with chickens? Because my house has chickens. If the watch doesn't come with the chickens, then it sounds like someone got ripped off.
@SplooshDmg At the current price of chicken and eggs, that checks out. If it wasn't a ripoff it wouldn't be luxury now would it?
@NEStalgia Really? It's normalized here now. Chicken breast is back to $1.69 a lb and eggs are $1.20 a dozen. You probably haven't seen prices like that since the 80s. Right?
@SplooshDmg $7lb here. Beef is cheaper! I'm still paying $100 for dried eggs. Used to be $22.
