It's been a very busy week for game reveals, and now that all the madness is (mostly) over, we can sit back and take a look at what is shaping up to be a stacked second half of the year for new releases on Xbox consoles.
You can find the full list of announcements in our "New Xbox Games Release Dates 2023" guide elsewhere on Pure Xbox, but below we've highlighted just a small selection of titles that we're particularly looking forward to:
- Aliens: Dark Descent (June 20)

- Persona 5: Tactica (November 17) - Xbox Game Pass

As you can see, September and October are looking especially busy right now, with the likes of Starfield, Mortal Kombat 1, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Forza Motorsport, Assassin's Creed Mirage and Alan Wake 2 all on the way.
Of course, the big question is how many of these games will make their release dates and how many will suffer unfortunate delays to 2024 — but considering how many are in the list right now, there's plenty to be excited about for later this year! Don't forget we've already got loads of upcoming Xbox Game Pass titles in 2023 as well.
Which games are you most interested in playing in the latter half of 2023? Tell us in the comments below.

I think it's very bizarre that the next wave of Game Pass games haven't been announced yet.
It is nice to see AA developers get some love. Remnant 2 and Atlas Fallen (The Surge 2) are both awesome, and I hope they turn out as good as their previous games.
The first time this generation that the Xbox line-up has looked better than PS (and the first time Switch’s lineup has looked the worst… seriously they must have something cooking, right?)
@Grumblevolcano Im hoping its better than the last few months because its been pretty awful there's some great games on the horizon though
The first of Half of 2023 was very good when I look back at it
Hi-Fi Rush
Dead Space remake
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Hogwarts Legacy
Dead Island 2
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Diablo IV
Street Fighter 6
I'm very excited for the 2nd half of 2023, especially for Starfield in September.
GamePass alone has me covered for XBOX:
There are other games I’m interested in but I’ll wait for them to get cheaper. Stoked for Forza!
@Grumblevolcano same. I was just thinking that. Maybe they're slowing down for some reason, maybe something to do with Activision? Not worried, but a little weirded out.
I see 5 games Ill play for sure, 4 of them are coming to Gamepass. Love my Xbox.
I’m one of those people that has an Xbox for halo 💔
I finally have some games to look forward to playing on my Series X. Speaking as a lifelong PlayStation gamer I must say the PS Showcase was very lacklustre but the Xbox Showcase was amazing. My Series X might even get more use than my PS5 this fall.
I see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre game is coming straight to Game Pass on 18th August when it launches.
My standard comment applies: backlog is real and growing
Starfield, Forza, MK1, Spiderman 2, Final Fantasy 16, Lies of P an Flight Sim are my most hyped games. A few others i’ll take a look at too.

@47AlphaTango I have all 3 consoles and what I love about that is of one system is in a drought, another one is probably not. I find myself rotating pretty regurarly throughout the calendar year. I probably use my Switch slightly more though.
@Thenewguy I haven’t touched my Switch in months and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Nintendo have appear to be mostly MIA which would strongly suggest a new system from them is imminent. Probably next Spring.
@47AlphaTango Yes, Nintendo seem very quiet. A new system is being redied as we speak it seems. However, one thing we do know is that it will launch after 31st March 2024 as in their latest financial data they have confirmed no hardware is to launch this fiscal year. It will likely launch very soon after this, in my view.
@BANJO Long time no see 😁.
@47AlphaTango It could be in 2099 along with Metroid Prime 4, since they also said Switch will be in the market until 20XX.
Just joking.
@FraserG I find these guides very helpful because there are so many games coming to Xbox and release dates change over time.
Alan Wake 2 is my big purchase for the rest of the year. I'll pop for Phantom liberty & the Starfield Premium upgrade too.
Game pass, the highlights (Starfield aside) are Lies of P, Texas CSM & Persona 5 T.
@Banjo- HAHA, I've been on here, but just not saying that much lately.
Regarding Nintendos' next console, I think they likely now grappling with the problems it takes to produce next gen games on time. So they are trying to keep the Switch going for as long as possible 😅
It's looking like Xbox is going to be my main gaming platform going forward for quite some time, some I'm looking forward to are
Sea of Thieves Monkey Island
Starfield
Forza
Sea of Stars
Lies of P
Like a Dragon Gaiden
Mortal Kombat 1
Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty
@Kaloudz how DARE you assume I am either a guy or a girl 😂
@47AlphaTango No TotK?
