Xbox boss Phil Spencer always seems appreciative of the hard work that folks put into making the games industry tick, and this year's Summer Game Fest is no exception. Ahead of Microsoft's huge Xbox Games Showcase this weekend, Phil has taken a moment to send Summer Game Fest and its host some love.
Posting to Twitter, Phil has expressed his appreciation of how much hard work goes into making these kinds of shows. After all, he has his own to lead this coming Sunday!
"So much work goes into putting together a show like #SummerGameFest, congrats to the entire team on a good showing of a lot of games. This show is good for the industry, great place for studios/pubs to highlight their games when we are all watching."
This is typical Phil, but we still love to see the man spread some positivity when he gets the chance! Xbox's Aaron Greenberg also joined in on the congratulations, saying that Xbox will "take the baton pass" for its showcase on Sunday.
"Thanks for all you do Geoff to bring together the gaming industry and community. Fun to see so many great games and familiar faces. We will take the baton pass for Sunday!"

@Kaloudz Aaron is basically saying Summer Game Fest has passed on the torch to Xbox for their show. They've been tagged in for the next showcase 😄
Geoff is that guy who moves in on a girl after his best friend dumped her. The girl being E3, his best friend being is the gamers.

@Kaloudz It's a sports reference. You 'pass the baton' in a relay race to the next runner (Xbox) but also just means to pass on a task/responsibility to someone else. (edited)
Xbox Games Showcase has been hyped to such absurd levels, that I doubt it can fulfill those expectations now. Even if it ends up being the best show ever.
Can everybody just relax, do the presentation, and tooth their own horn once it is done?
@MustachioFurioso @Cikajovazmaj absolutely agreed. Everyone seems to have expectations of seemingly every Xbox Studio, or at least a handful, revealing their games without considering what that would leave them with for next year and the year after. AAA games take a long time to make.

@MustachioFurioso Starfield isn't out yet, and there's no guarantee that it'll be out this year or even be good.
With those 2 persona games on gamepass they already won best showcase without even touching upon any first party! Shame I got alerted to the leak but at least I can now enjoy the show not having to wonder if Persona will be there.

@Deljo I'm worried that they will blow it. Huge xbox fan but they just drop the ball do often. Especially with first party. But there's always a chance of small victories.

@Moonglow it's not that I'm not excited. It's more like fool me once shame on you, twice on me kind of thing. Seems here many of as xbox fans are jaded. And I think rightfully so. I'm still a huge fan of Xbox. Some incredible experiences and memories xbox has given me over the generations. But it's just they haven't delivered on the games this Gen and arguably last generations. So even of the show is fire, and I hole it is, still the games may never come out or won't even be good when they do. I'll be tuned though. Hoping with low confidence.
Isn't there someone other than Keighley who could put a similar event together? Alanah Pierce? Greg Miller?

Not a massive fan of Geoff to be honest. His bias is frustrating at times. Enjoyed the MK1 stuff and Nic Cage. Show overall was a about a 6.5 for me. FF isn't on Xbox so didn't get the hype. Show was ok, flowed well then sort of got a bit slow and pacing was an issue. But not bad. Nice to see you Ant.
@Kaloudz Yeah. Square are a bit plop recently. Just find the situation with XBOX very frustrating. Not sure who's to blame. But yeah never played an FF game so I'm good. I'm sure it's fantastic for you my friend. So don't worry about my loss.

Yeah luckily I'm not engrossed in FF if so I'd be Fuming. I have a Xbox SX and a Switch Oled.
I'm not in the Sony eco system so FF being bound to Sony is a little frustrating. So glad SF6 is back. Can't believe how good that game is and Xbox has it too which is amazing for all 🙂💚
@Fishticon they literally confirmed it releases on 6 September. Unless they delay it again, as it stands, it releases September 6th 2023.
@Moonglow not sure if you watched the direct but....yea....I hate kind of grading and comparing, but it's what everyone does with these. Playstation showcase and summer game fest were both better than xbox show. Now it all comes down to Starfield as we all knew. Stanfield will make or break everything.
@Episode_13 Hi. Interested to hear what bias you think Geoff has? He always seems deliberately impartial to me. Splitting his shows between all platforms and giving everyone a fair shot.

Hello Ant, I'm on EG still, but won't be back until early July, thankfully a friend on Xbox recommended here a long lost friend or good guy who also was on EG. EG have some suspect admins, I've contacted my source I have there, as it keeps happening, where someone can get me banned for no reason. Won't mention any names, as there's some pretty crappy people on that site that hound me constantly.
Geoff show was fine, 6.5 for me, I meant in the past Geoff favours Sony which is fine and I just miss E3, it's like he's dancing on their grave a bit for me, he works hard, just don't get that chemistry with Geoff and he is Bias towards Sony for me.

@Episode_13 I think this is likely a better fit for you here on PX, it's obviously more Xbox focused, hope it works well for you. Plus they have FORUMS here.
@themightyant been on EG over 8 years, never had any real issues, it all got sorted by my contact there who actually said a few times he has no idea why I'm banned this was a while ago, then it happened a few times and was sorted etc. So it's definitely not always me, I've never been rude or broken and T and C's.
I had to fight to get my account back which my lovely contact did, but something isn't right.
PX is much better already, feels pretty chilled, I'd say one positive Xbox thing over there and it kicks off, already got one user over there trolling the showcase, just checked!

@themightyant disagree, I've never done anything over there, I will be back. This isn't bias it's my opinion, the community over there is toxic at times, I just had a sneak peak, it's bad!
Very true, lets leave it at that, I haven't lied, people target the Xbox users over there more than ever, real shame!
