Friday the 13th: The Game is officially going offline, folks. Jason's asymmetric escapade closes its cabin doors on December 31st, 2023 - at least for new councillors looking to buy the game on digital storefronts.
Yep, from that date you'll no longer be able to pick up a copy on the Xbox Store. However, the development team has confirmed that the game will stay live for existing owners for at least another year; through December 31st, 2024.
If you never got around to picking up Friday the 13th but are interested in giving it a go before it disappears, you'll soon be able to get it — and its DLC — for a bit cheaper prior to the delisting date. The team says that the game will drop to $4.99 and each DLC pack to $0.99, although those reduced prices have not gone live on Xbox at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, rumours have started circulating about another Friday the 13th game being in the works. During a recent interview, horror composer Harry Manfredini told outlet Rely on Horror that an unannounced game based on the famous franchise is currently in development with a different dev team. No other details, or an official announcement of any sort, have been shared at this time.
It all seems to be happening in the world of Friday the 13th, then, but all we know for sure right now is that Gun Media's current online adaptation will be delisted from Xbox on December 31st, 2023.
Will you be playing Friday the 13th some more before it goes offline for good? Let us know if you'll be stalking the shores of Camp Crystal Lake on Xbox.

This game got quietly killed months ago when the courts effectively told them to cease development due to a legal battle over who owned the rights, with the court making the block absolute on continuing.
It would be like if Disney and Sony got into a dispute over Spiderman and they preemptively delisted Marvel Vs Capcom 3 from all storefronts... then Disney refused to allow even Sony to relist Marvel Vs Capcom 3.
I know this game had its issues and was extremely buggy but I loved this game. I’m not even a multiplayer gamer but there was something about this game that did it for me. The developers really did their research on the maps and the little details they put in. It felt closer to the movies than most video game/movie adaptations. I’m sad to hear it will be delisted for new buyers but I’m looking forward to Gun Media’s next game. I did not hear anything about a new Friday the 13th from a new developer. Hope that turns out to be a true rumor.
