We've been treated to a great surprise to start the week, as the multi-time Game of the Year winner Inscryption has finally made its way to Xbox, having released for PC back in 2021 and various other consoles in 2022.
For those who haven't heard of it, Inscryption is described as "blending the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-laced smoothie". As you can see from the trailer, it looks pretty crazy!
We won't say too much more, as the top Steam review even mentions that "the less you know, the better", but rest assured this game has received fantastic reviews alongside its numerous awards over the past few years, currently sitting on an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam based on over 81,000 ratings.
Here's a sample of what our sister site Nintendo Life had to say in their (8/10) review:
"It’s hard to talk about the specifics of Inscryption without diluting some of its magic. However, its ingenuity is mind-boggling, its mood is devilishly haunting and its presentation is first-rate. As a deck builder, it’s stretched about as far as it can go, and by jumping around between concepts it sometimes asks for a lot from the player. The pay-off, however, is one of the most impressive feats of video game storytelling there is."
You'll find more details about Inscryption below, along with some screenshots.
- Inscryption (Xbox Store) - £16.74 / $19.99
"From the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes the latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games. Inscryption is an inky black card-based odyssey that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-laced smoothie. Darker still are the secrets inscrybed upon the cards..."

Always wanted to try this on steam, wish it was on gp so I could test it out. I thought it was just another hands of fate knockoff, but maybe it's just the art style.
@fizban3332 It’s definitely not a Hands of Fate knockoff. Hard to describe without spoiling it.
Great game! Though at one point (when gameplay completely changes) I suddenly lost interest and stopped playing
@fizban3332 get it on steam. if it's not clicking after 2 hours, refund it
Very cool game. Unfortunately I'm spent from the Spring Sale so I'm gonna have to wait.
I played on PS and really enjoyed it, but I stopped playing in the 3rd act and never finished. I should go back. Glad it has launched on Xbox so more folks can experience it
I love Daniel Mullins games, I ve been waiting for ages, losing hope as there were no news for an Xbox release, what a surprise. Bought it already and three hours in I'm loving it.
If it comes to GP, I'll give it a go. Otherwise, no thanks.
you had me quite excited until I saw that it was a card game lol
