The latest entry in 2K's WWE series arrives this week in the form of WWE 2K23, and as we expected based on the previews, it's getting some pretty impressive feedback! Most, if not all of the reviews seem to be for the PlayStation 5 and PC versions so far - we're also hoping to bring you our Xbox verdict in the near future.
Without further ado, here's what the critics are saying:
Attack Of The Fanboy (4.5/5)
"With an overwhelming amount of content, it’s going to be difficult to find time for many other games coming out this year. WWE 2K is back in full swing, and this is going to be the title to beat for years to come."
Hey Poor Player (4.5/5)
"If you’re itching for some satisfying wrestling action that has never looked as good as it does here, then don’t hesitate to pick up WWE 2k23, as it truly is championship material."
Push Square (8/10)
"WWE 2K23 isn’t a huge step up from 2K22 with long load times and a surprisingly unpolished Showcase Mode for John Cena, but the series has still shown growth, considering War Games is pure chaos and MyRise is much improved. The future is once again bright for WWE and 2K, and so WWE 2K23 should be celebrated by fans as though they’ve just won their first world championship."
GamesRadar (4/5)
"Last year's outing was solid: not quite main event caliber, but the most playable in half a decade. WWE 2K23 goes one better. The former Smackdown series is finally back on top form."
Wccftech (7.5/10)
"Overall, it feels like WWE 2K23 inches the series closer to delivering the total package you expect from the best sports games (like the NBA 2K franchise), but it isn’t quite there yet."
As you can see, it's a great start for WWE 2K23, boasting an impressive Metacritic rating of 84 (for PlayStation 5) at the time of writing. It sounds like a worthy evolution over last year's game, which we also really liked!
