As you know, we've been spending countless hours with the new Resident Evil 4 remake on Xbox Series X throughout the month, but the Xbox Series S version is something we've only just started looking into.
This week, we thought we'd put together a little comparison of both versions, and the results are quite interesting! It's pretty much as you'd expect on Xbox Series X, with the Resolution Mode proving more visually stunning than the Frame Rate Mode (albeit not by too much), but the Series S version is a bit all over the place.
Basically, there are some apparent texture issues in the Resolution Mode on Xbox Series S, and it means the Frame Rate Mode actually ends up looking better in certain circumstances. You can see multiple examples at the 4:46 mark.

As for performance, Digital Foundry has measured the Xbox Series X version to run at around 40-45FPS in Resolution Mode and 60FPS with dips in Performance Mode, while the Series S hits around 30FPS in Resolution Mode and 50-60FPS in Frame Rate Mode. In our testing, we definitely noticed the Series S struggling with that latter option.
Take a look at the video for yourself and tell us what you think - this was a fun one to put together!
How are you getting on visuals and performance-wise with Resident Evil 4? Tell us down below.

Having the freedom to choose what suites you better is a thing I don't want to see disapear, some time I prefere 30fps with upgraded graphics and other times I prefer 60fps with graphics downgrade .
I always pick frame rate but like the option, how far we’ve come from cartridges and tapes lol
I haven’t noticed much frame rate drop on performance but the dead zones on Xbox controllers are truly embarrassing. I have to push the stick almost halfway before the character looks or moves. How did this actually ship in this state?
@NorthwestEagle that’s true, they’re just not the size of a VHS and I don’t put them in my school bag with my juicebox to take round my best friends house lol
