The highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake is almost upon us, and ahead of that time, we've been getting to grips with the free demo on the Xbox Store. It's only a small teaser of what's to come, but what happens when we put it alongside the original version of Resident Evil 4 for Xbox One? Unsurprisingly, it's a massive difference.
In the video above, you can see the results. This isn't just a remaster... it's a major overhaul of the Resident Evil 4 experience, and we're particularly impressed with the lighting in the new version - it makes the old game look very dated!
Anyway, take a look for yourself, and don't forget that you can try Resident Evil 4's remake for yourself right now, with the full release occuring on March 24th. We'll also have a review for you soon... keep a look out for that!

Tbh I was not very impressed with the visuals of the demo. Everything looked a touch soft and it ran quite choppy. Played on my Series X.
@BRT15 I have to agree. As an ardent fan of the 2 & 3 remakes I couldn’t shake the feeling this looked less impressive. But it was one area so I’ll reserve judgment. But good to know I wasn’t alone.
Actually more impressed with how well the originals aged, after watching that.
Really liked the demo. RE4 is one I’ve never played through before so will no definitely be picking this up at some point
It's not a remaster at all, it's a remake just like 2 and 3 were. Figured I'd clear that up for some calling it a remaster
RE4 has aged incredibly gracefully.
This remake obviously looks better, but after playing the demo, I don't think it's worth buying at full price. It's not the night and day difference you got with the remakes for the first three games.
@Ralizah I didn't know the first Resident Evil had a remake.
@BleedingDreamer Yep, on GameCube, which was remastered for modern platforms years ago. It's one of the best remakes of all time.
