Forspoken Isn't On Xbox Yet, But It'll Still Have Achievements At Launch

Played the demo of this on PS5 and wasn’t very impressed. We’ll see how the full version fairs but don’t think this is going to be some amazing exclusive.

The demo was really bad, if the final game is like the demo then Xbox players aren't missing out.

Wow, I knew finding any Xbox news was bad at this point, but we've reached a new low when grasping for relevant articles has an Xbox site covering Forspoken. Even PlayStation sites don't want to cover Forspoken.....

...that is something we do now.

@NEStalgia unrelated but I think l was thinking how we were excited for something, anything from Xbox regarding upcoming games. Then the Developer_Direct was announced and now after this week’s news of layoffs I can’t help but feel it’ll overshadow that event.

Tried the demo and quit after 5 minutes. I could tell it was going to be a frustrating experience.

@ParsnipHero once the developer direct happens and we see these awesome games and have dates people will forget all about the layoffs. You gotta understand how quickly people move on to the next thing and how short memories are when it comes to news. Those layoffs will be forgotten about as quickly as they were announced, like most things these days.

Didn’t click with me when announced. It’s bland in all departments.

Microsoft could pay to keep it a three-year exclusive for Sony from what i've seen lol

Played the demo on PS5 and it's terrible. Sony might as well keep it exclusive since Xbox players wont be missing anything.

I will be playing it on PC most likely, unless the PC version suffers from stuttering. If that’s the case I’ll purchase it for PS5 (granted it’s free from major performance issues of course).

It is going to need 2 more years to be a good game anyways.

@FraserG Hah yeah, I mean it's TECHNICALLY PC relevant. But it's just famous for being a PS game. A PS game thats greatest distinction is being the game that releases right before the good games do...

This is basically Haze 2 but with a chance of a future Xbox port

@SplooshDmg Hey Lair was a fantastic tech demo for the temporary controller the $700 console came with until you were allowed to buy the permanent one at full price!

@J_Mo_Money sadly true. Not just in gaming but pretty much everything these days is quickly forgotten.

@SplooshDmg Did you try the demo for this game? It's like the same team that decided riding around in a car through barren landscapes with real-time travel time was a fun video game made a video game that decided just blasting in straight lines through the same exact barren landscape is a funner video game. Because it is the same team....

The concept is great, but traversal and environments are boring AF, combat could have been cool as a Platinum style game but it has less weight than Balloon Fight, and the writing makes High on Life's gun chat seem interesting, and Twilight look like Dickens. And I don't mean Ant.

It makes it worse because they cast a British actress for some unknown reason to play a New Yorker. She does a very commendable job at trying to go for the NY accent......for a Brit..... but it's extra hard, extra forced, and when I heard her say "those fooka's".....I was done. I think they tried recreating SpiderMiles, but instead recreated the average CoD fan.

I thought the game looked cool when it was first unveiled in 2020 but....ouch.

I like weird B-grade games so I'll probably buy it when it hits $29.99 or something. Maybe. I was kinda HAPPY when the demo ended after half an hour. I deleted it and installed Genshin...and you know how I feel about that game... You know it's bad when a big PS exclusive drops and everyone's like "yeahh...soo...Hogwarts soon!"

IDK why Sony paid for 2 whole years of this. I'm pretty sure this ends the "Sony should buy Square" meme though

Tried the demo was ok but nothing to get excited about, a sort of stocking filler game if you get me.
Won’t be buying it that’s for sure.
It’s funny since BOTW 6 years ago you see so many games try to put parts of that game in their game. Then again gaming is getting to the point when ideas are truly running out.
Also because the gains are not there as each generation releases.
I was there when we went from 2d to 3d say SNES to N64, Mario 64 it was special at the time.

@Dezzy70 Elden Ring and Sonic Frontiers have a ton of BotW in it. Forspoken, not so much. It's basically FFXV with most of everything removed, fast-run, and a semi DMC combat system but with magic.

But yeah, early computing with every year advancements being mind-blowing to today where tech is as ordinary as microwave ovens....it'll never compare. Might not be a bad thing though. Video games got more boring, but every time we have a tech revolution we destroy everything nice even more.

@Dezzy70 if you want to experience that big a leap from 2D to 3D again then the only thing that’s going to offer it is vr - completely transformative. It’s a shame MS won’t get fully behind VR as it needs more than sony in the console market for it to grow. But the leaps already real enough…and psvr 2 looks like a far more noticeable generational graphical leap than this gen compared to last has been so far. The price point of it is way off though… so won’t be picking it up day 1…but if Sony actually support it with more than a handful of games this time round it’s definitely something to look into if you want to experience that next step in gaming

@SplooshDmg I've literally never actually been happy that a demo ended. Weird feeling. I just wanted to go do literally anything else, even Genshin at that point. I was kind of passively disinterested until it wanted to to climb the tower and I discovered the games idea of climbing parkour felt like playing packinko, in reverse, using your character as the ball.

I'm still not quite sure about the new FE. Though I am now looking forward to next fall with Pokemon Colgate and Pokemon Crest.

I also played the demo then uninstalled after 5 minutes, but I’ll follow reviews to see if I should revisit when it gets cheap.

Meanwhile the FTC should get a better understanding of how Sony is also benefiting from carving out exclusives, heavily timed or otherwise!

I know there won’t big leaps again like the old days. But maybe there sort of will be in a different way but it will be slow progression.
Imagine a game and the power to produce a game today that is graphically created but like being in real life, I mean proper real life 1:1 on par not one single compromise including graphics, movement, intelligence in every single process and part and real AI absolutely everything down to the last microscopic detail. For me that would be a big advancement.

I wish Sony would do PSVR2 gaming demo pods in shops so I could try it and a few of the games.
It’s a lot of money and also motion sickness could hit me bad.
Without a full trial demo for say an hour I will be giving it a miss. If I can last an hour 😂

Square won’t be getting a single penny off me fed up of these timed exclusives and big games missing Xbox.

@Dezzy70 when I first played the matrix demo it was this first time this gen I felt I’d seen a noticeable leap. I think the unreal 5 engine will bring the graphical leap this gen still. But devs aren’t investing in AI…we’re getting the same games only prettier. And it’s been that way since the dawn of Xbox.
Infact it’s getting worse now as devs shift focus away from story driven games to games they can more micro monetise…meaning less investment in things like AI.

The biggest gameplay leap I’ve experienced since going from 2D to mario 64 was simply playing gran turismo on psvr for a few minutes - was enough to sell me on the thing. Was fully transformative.
The gameplay mechanics in psvr games aren’t anything new…in fact they’re often made simpler with far lower budgets, worse AI, and far less ambitious story telling. But the dimension change is big enough to carry it. And when you get full proper games like skyrim and resident evil in VR…that have no compromise in terms of gameplay and ai and story…then it really does offer that next leap in gaming that’s as big if not bigger than 2D to 3D.

Psvr 2 should offer less chance of motion sickness if you’re prone as there should be an elimination of drifting. But I remember hearing story’s from the weak stomached before trying psvr for myself…was enough to put me off getting it for years. Once I tried it though I’ve never once felt sick. But affects people differently. Definitely something you need to try for yourself.

@Meehanuk_1987 sony certainly know how to get the most out of these timed exclusive deals…never any of this 3 month exclusivity window with Sony. Always at the very least a year…often 2. Spending money with a real purpose for their player base. And that’s how you compete when you can’t afford to buy the publisher…you buy the marketing and timed exclusivity of their games instead. Cheaper. And the gains are far quicker. Remind yourself we’re still yet to see a Bethesda exclusive on Xbox…whilst Sony still has one on PlayStation…and didn’t have to spend close to a single billion for it.

@Sebatrox timed exclusive are far from useless - we’re talking multiplat games. Why do you think both continue to invest in timed exclusivity? Because it serves no purpose? Think.
And like I said, if you can’t afford to buy the publisher the next best thing is buying the rights to the game for a window of a couple of years. This is a tactic that has worked well for Sony…whilst Xbox players tactic of just waiting has worked great so far for the likes of final fantasy 7 eh.
Also, like I said, along with timed exclusivity comes marketing rights. Marketing right are invaluable - getting the message out that these games are on your system to casual gamers who end up thinking these games are only on said system. Not only that they’ve allowed Sony to actively block games from appearing on gamepass for years regardless of timed exclusivity.

The likes of elder scrolls and next doom being only on Xbox are long term gains (if they even end up being exclusive - which trust me is no given). And results in us have years with very few AAA exclusivity. Where as timed exclusives are short term gains but instant games…allowed for an empty calendar to be filled. Ensuring momentum is kept. And subs keep growing. Ms is investing in timed exclusives too for this reason. And again, it’s worked just peachy for Sony who have a console that always ends up selling more than Xbox - who are backed by a trillion dollar company and ALWAYS end in last place.

So yeah, timed exclusivity is useless. 🧠
