PSA: The Witcher 3 Is Dirt Cheap On Xbox One Prior To Free Next-Gen Upgrade

One of my favourite games of the whole last generation.

To anyone yet to pick this up I recommend getting the GoTY edition as both expansions were just as good as the main game, and quite lengthy too. Definitely worth the extra few quid/bucks

I got the goty edition for free with xbone S. I don't see any reason to go back to it for the upgrade. The open world was just so boring most of the time. SO many ?'s all over the place and 90% of them were just filler repeating the same content. The story missions and witcher contracts were mostly great though.

I'd welcome a Witcher 4 that had a much more focused narrative. They're really great at telling stories, or at least bringing someone else's stories to life.

For anyone in the UK, I just bought the GOTY version from Amazon in their Black Friday sale for less than £13.00! I’m weird as I always want the physical disc and that’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen it. Now can I wait until mid-December before I actually play it!

Overrated I think personally

I'm going to be a shady b**ch for saying this, but I think it's one of the most overrated games of all time. I just don't see the "wow" factor AT ALL. I tried playing it and I couldn't stomach the horrible and I mean HORRIBLE walking controls and combat. Indie games do better in this regard, and we're talking about a AAA game. Also, it's barely an RPG, and more like an RPG simulator. You can't romance who you want, you can't customize the character, and conversation options are limited.
I'm sorry for being a negative Nancy, but I'm kinda sick of this game getting all this praise while we're ignoring its major problems.

I had it on disc but traded it and now I've got it digitally to play it fully this time when it gets this upgrade.

@CunningPig They actually adressed the ? situation by making new map filters that erase them off the map. It's going to be a great remaster.

They need to fix the fact you can't transfer saves between the standard and goty edition. Played the standard on gamepass, bought the goty edition in a saleearlier this year, had to restart. I haven't been back since.

I played it on the switch with ugly graphics and it’s one of my favorite game of all time, I found side quests to be the best in all games I have played with fleshed out back story and cinematic, not just a text saying what you have to do and just a new item after you complete them, I am tempted to buy it again just to go back to this fantastic world.

Everything you say are true and valid points of view. Still a good game. Not as great as it’s made out to be. Still haven’t finished it because of all the things you brought up. Glad we are not all just blind sheep. 👍🏻

@UndyingInsurgent95 I haven't played it yet but at least it's very cheap and the Series remaster is free, so everyone can try it. Breath of the Wild, the most overrated game ever in my opinion, is still 70 euros/dollars, 30 more for the mediocre DLC. The Wii U and Switch versions didn't offer any cross-buy nor cross-save option. I say this as a Wii U and Switch owner, sick of Nintendo's "upgrades'.

@PressR2 that's intersting. I hadn't heard that, probably not enough to draw me back, but that's good for new players.

@Banjo- I think BotW was a pretty good game, it just wasn't a very good Zelda game. Overrated probably true though because it gets a lot of GOAT hype. It's hard, when they set the bar so high on snes and n64, for anything to match Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time, for me at least. Fully acknowledge my nostalgia influences that opinion though.

This was my game of the Last generation and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes these style of games. Its one of the 'few' games where your decisions have an impact on the world - and not just those of the Main Quest. There are side quests that impact the main quests and events in the world and it really helps make it feel more dynamic than most (if not all) other RPG's.

AC for example is incredibly static by comparison - nothing really 'changes'. I really enjoyed how some little side-quest can result in something changing along the main quest - even if its something little like seeing a Character you opted to save appear later on...

I really enjoyed the game and completed virtually everything - twice - as I bought the game (and all DLC) on both XB1 & PS4. The 2nd DLC, Blood and Wine, is bigger/better than the majority of AAA games on the market...

For the asking price, I'd consider this to be a Bargain and well worth it. But I also know that it won't be for 'everyone' as we all have our own preferences...

@CunningPig I don't think it's nostalgia. I was hyped about Breath of the Wild, I bought it at launch. I also played Ocarina of Time at launch but I replayed the unofficial Wii U port (60fps) this year and it's the same awesome game after 24 years.

@OneArmedGiant Indeed. There is a solid game there, but it's nowhere near perfect. I'll stick with Spiders to scratch my RPG itch, and hopefully, Bioware can fulfill my AAA RPG void lol!

@Banjo- Oh, believe me, I am quite familiar with Nintendo and Nintendo's "fans". The latest Pokemon game, for example, came out a broken mess, and still, you can't criticize the thing without getting bullied.

@UndyingInsurgent95 I just found a Digital Foundry video about Pokemon, it's shockingly bad. I think that this is Nintendo's worst generation regardless of sales. The Switch is awful hardware and the best games are Wii U ports, except Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 that also struggle on Switch because of the lack of power.
